He was literally the all time sack leader after 2 years in the league. More than LT or Derrick Thomas.

I can't even remember if aldon ever lined up on the left side
He did, and he dominated from that side as well.

Aldon Smith was the most physically gifted rusher I think the league has ever seen. Crazy to say that with LT, Reggie, Strahan, and so on. No one had the length, power, and natural balance that Smith had.
Bosa will have a much better career but Smith was the best in his prime.

This whole thing is a joke. Aldon's "prime" was what.. one season.. after that he was ALL DONE. Ya'll would take that over Nick Joey? He may give us a decade long prime.. he at least has a shot at it, unlike Aldon.

Aldon's never received the double/triple team attention that Bosa has in at the same point in his career and it's not even close.

I walked into a store in California a few years ago and Cedrick Hardman was sitting near the entrance handing out signed photos of himself. There wasn't anyone else around so I got to talk to him briefly. It seemed so odd to see one of the greatest pass rushers in NFL history sitting there signing photos. He addressed it to me and wrote. "Truth is the quiet acceptance of what is." Cedrick Hardman #86. In the photo he's obliterating some guy on the Chargers.
so jealous of you. great great story.... there was nothing like him, the gold rush. 64 sacks in14 games.. unreal

Yah. You just don't expect to see former great athletes signing autographs and handing out photos for free anymore. It's usually an autograph show where you have to pay for that stuff. He seemed like the same guy in that store that I met as a rookie at a 49er booster meeting.

33 sacks in his first two seasons. He was ranked #7 overall nfl player by NFL.com.
And then he imploded.

Aldon's wing span was insane. It was a play where he just trucked a guy on the Dolphins. And he had that huge strip of Matt Ryan in that NFCCG.

Yup. I watched all his plays with us. He turned into All Done pretty quick. Was never our best D player. Was never our best LB. Great pass rusher for a brief blink of time. I wouldn't call that much of a prime or even a prime.. it was like a year and a half. Prime for a great HOF player should be like 4 or so years at least.

Aldon was great, until he had 3-4 games to get the sack record and failed to do so. After that he was never the same. In the same situation, I think bosa reaches the record, more heart and determination. Also, if he was on pace to be one of the best ever, he would have showed up for the raiders and cowboys. I'll take bosa over Aldon all day. Bosa lives and breaths football. Aldon lives to drink some more

Yup these poll results are a complete travesty. Bosa is still in his prime and trust me it will be way better than All Done.

I don't understand this prime talk. Nick Bosa and Aldon Smith came out of college at the exact same age. They were both freshly turned 22-years-old rookies.

both Bosa and Aldon (career cut short) have yet to reach their Primes
