I'm their primes, who was the better pass rusher out of these two

Yup these poll results are a complete travesty. Bosa is still in his prime and trust me it will be way better than All Done.

I don't understand this prime talk. Nick Bosa and Aldon Smith came out of college at the exact same age. They were both freshly turned 22-years-old rookies.

Yup.. this is why I say Aldon didn't even really have a prime.. he was just getting started in his career and it got derailed due to bad life choices.. his fault..

Bosa is still going has many prime years in front imo. In the end Bosa wins out here..

Aldon was great, until he had 3-4 games to get the sack record and failed to do so. After that he was never the same. In the same situation, I think bosa reaches the record, more heart and determination. Also, if he was on pace to be one of the best ever, he would have showed up for the raiders and cowboys. I'll take bosa over Aldon all day. Bosa lives and breaths football. Aldon lives to drink some more

Everyone wanted to say that Aldon couldn't rush the passer without Justin but that's clearly false when you watch the tape.

All of Aldon's success came with his incredible arm/hand usage. I don't see any reason to believe that a torn labrum wouldn't severely hamper a pass-rusher like Aldon. I think Bosa will prove to be the better player if he hasn't already in their prime, but I think Aldon's wow moments were a little more special then Bosa's so far.

Exactly. The people who argue that Aldon was only good because of Justin have no clue what they're talking about. The only aspect of Justin argument that makes sense is that Justin helped Aldon get more 1-on-1s. That's true. But when Aldon is 1-on-1 with the left tackle and smoking them out of their cleats, that has absolutely nothing to do with Justin Smith. And miss me with the plays where Justin grabs the left tackle and allowed Aldon to run around him. Those were a tiny, tiny portion of Aldon's success.

Aldon wasn't only good because of Justin Smith but you vastly underestimate just how good #94 was. Honestly I wonder if you really have any idea what you're talking about. You post a clip of Aldon barely breathing on one of the worst RIGHT tackles in Breno Giacomini from a standing position no less to prove your point?? Ridiculous. Bosa is really close now to being as skilled as Aldon Smith was as a pass rusher and is by far a more complete player already than Aldon ever would have been.

Touché, I completely missed that injury. Sooo. You're saying, a torn labrum led to a self medicated downward spiral? Jk. But you never know
Aldon had Justin Smith. lol.

Bosa.
If Aldon Smith had Kris Kocurek..........hmmmm
Could you imagine if Bosa had Justin Smith playing next to him. Aldon's sack numbers were a bit inflated because of what Justin did to help him out.
In their primes? Bosa hasn't hit his prime yet. it is a lousy question.

IMO he's the most knowledgeable and the best guy on this website when talking about D-Line play.
I defer to what the guys that have played against them have said and Trent Williams and Staley both said Aldon was the toughest pass rusher they'd ever gone against.

Neither did Aldon. His drinking took over by year 3. Maybe sooner for all we know.
Aldon was on pace to be one of the best pass rushers to ever do it!

Bosa is good but he's not Aldon Smith, but I don't think many pass rushers compare to Aldon Smith.

He single handedly took over games,

As someone who coached DLine and played the all Dline positions for over a decade... I can confirm Hero knows what he's talking about.

I remember the MNF game when Aldon owned Trent Williams on several pass rush reps. Pretty sure that was the moment Aldon made his impression on Trent.
Pure ability = Aldon Smith. no question.
