Accuracy was his biggest issue coming in. It wasn't great in is limited time last year. It isn't great so far this whole offseason.

This isn't a one off. This isn't a defense is hoing to win some kind of thing. This is who he has been up to this point.

While I believe he will succeed with the 9ers and Kyle I do believe this is the kind of QB he will be.
Context is important. What type of passes is he attempting? If he's attempting more difficult passes or deeper passes of course he'll be less accurate because those passes are lower percentage throws. I'd rather him be 50% attempting deeper shots than 70% dinking and dunking.

The dinking and dunking drives may look prettier on the stat sheet but as we've seen over the past four years, they require perfect drives and if something goes wrong like a penalty or other negative play, the drive stalls.

I don't care about today. I care about tomorrow's practice. How does Trey respond to this simulated adversity?

Well if the 1st 10 practices is any indication he'll be hovering around that 50% line again. But maybe tomorrow he'll have a couple highlights to divert your eyes from the rest of his performance.

Panic.

FWIW it sounds like Mac Jones is having a stinker too.

Mac Jones had some moments of uncertainty a yr ago in training camp but not nearly as many as you would expect for a rook. This summer? Far more. Yes, it is early August. There's time. However, the install started back in the spring & you'd like more comfort & success.

The Trey haters are out in force. C'mon guys. We talkin' bout practice. Trey has to know what he's capable of and not capable of. On top of that, he was without his starting RT and LT. How many QBs would thrive against this defense in that scenario?

The offense is going to win some and the defense is going to win some. This is what we all should expect to happen.

Agreed. At some point, we got to start calling it how it has been and not just ignoring it or trying to put rose-colored glasses on. This isn't one practice, there have been 10. Practice does matter. And so far when you put it all together it has been a bad training camp for Trey. 50% completion percentage is just bad. It wouldn't be good enough in games and it is even worst of a stat to happen in practice where players can't touch the QB. If he was hitting on a bunch of deep stuff it might make it better, but it sounds like he has been missing on the deep throws as well. There is always context as to why things might be going the way they are... But in reality, there is no excuse for 50% completion. You can only use the Defense and Oline as an excuse to a certain point. He has a pro bowl TE and 2 pro bowl Caliber WRS to throw to. Sudfeld is at 73% completion percentage and Purdy is at 67% so far this training camp.

The good news is he is still extremely young, physically gifted, and Raw as a QB. There is still a lot of time before this season and future ones for improvement. The bad news is I am not sure that accuracy is as easy of a thing to fix as many people have tried to make it out to be. I hope I am wrong about it. I am just not sure where some posters are getting their confidence from at this point.

He had a 62% completion rate during TC last year (Jimmy's was 63%). Did that end up meaning anything?

From what I've been reading it's the flow of the offense that isn't clicking. Not so much Mac himself.
how many more practices we got til 1st preseason game?

I'd take Trey in a heartbeat but this is the guy clarifying the exact report op used.

In contrast, the blocking for Trey has been 100% perfect and the receivers are always open.
