Context is important. What type of passes is he attempting? If he's attempting more difficult passes or deeper passes of course he'll be less accurate because those passes are lower percentage throws. I'd rather him be 50% attempting deeper shots than 70% dinking and dunking.

The dinking and dunking drives may look prettier on the stat sheet but as we've seen over the past four years, they require perfect drives and if something goes wrong like a penalty or other negative play, the drive stalls.

I don't care about today. I care about tomorrow's practice. How does Trey respond to this simulated adversity?

Well if the 1st 10 practices is any indication he'll be hovering around that 50% line again. But maybe tomorrow he'll have a couple highlights to divert your eyes from the rest of his performance.

He had a 62% completion rate during TC last year (Jimmy's was 63%). Did that end up meaning anything?
Yeah, Jimmy sucks.

FWIW it sounds like Mac Jones is having a stinker too.

Mac Jones had some moments of uncertainty a yr ago in training camp but not nearly as many as you would expect for a rook. This summer? Far more. Yes, it is early August. There's time. However, the install started back in the spring & you'd like more comfort & success.

From what I've been reading it's the flow of the offense that isn't clicking. Not so much Mac himself.

In contrast, the blocking for Trey has been 100% perfect and the receivers are always open.

I didn't say that, don't be so insecure. I'm not worried about Trey one but. I was just pointing out the same guy the op reported that Mac was struggling clarified himself, nothing more. Again no need for insecurity.

It's not insecurity. I just found the implication that was made before your post about how Mac's awful camp was more about the offense as a whole and not just him to be funny when some posters won't make that same distinction for Trey. Trey was under immediate pressure on something like 10 dropbacks today which is going to make it difficult for anyone.

And he doesn't mention they don't technically have an OC. They go from McDainels to a couple guys led by Matt Patricia. Far cry from Kyle.

All the while Mac still completing passes

They also are not going against a defense nearly as good as our's. Especially the pass rush.

1. There have been at least a couple times in each training camp practice when quarterbacks Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe are holding on to the ball for an extended period of time before either scrambling or throwing it away. One play stood out to me in that regard on Thursday, as Jones rolled out to his right and just flipped the football underhanded out of bounds. There was simply nothing there and Jones quickly seemed resigned to that outcome. It's not that there haven't been successful plays, but the lack of consistency and frequency of "no-chance" plays has also been notable from the media tent.

When you have cement shoes and a weak arm like Jones, I imagine a lot of plays must feel like they have no chance if things don't go perfectly.

Maybe Mac's starting LT and RT were out too.

If we could only fuse Trey and Jimmy together.

You'd come up with something like Justin Fields

Fields is pretty terrible.

You are nothing, if not predictable.

Yeah alot of praise for a QB that had 7 TD's 10 INT's last season. Who had 12 fumbles and lost 5 of them. Who had a passer rating of 73.2

But people give him a pass because it's the Bears.

3-5 yarders won't get things done.
