Damn, Trey threw it straight to Fred Warner on this play. He was just standing there!:

Look at the wobble on this throw from 49ers 2nd Year QB, Trey Lance :

It'd be unrealistic to expect him to not have the occasional minor struggle in his first TC as the starter.

Lost me there, man.

Could for sure be the best defense we've had in this "modern era" of the nfl where the league is pass happy and the offense has a huge rule advantage. Could end up being our best defense since 2011-12 when we had Jsmith, Aldon, McDonald, Willis bowman etc etc

Unfortunately I don't think we'll see that type of defense again but I'm hopeful we do. Then to complement it we had Frank Gore and that bruising O line

One thing to note.. we are turning into a WR factory... KS knows the position well. We have developed 2 ones.. JJ developing nicely.. now KS working on Gray

Aiyuk is not a 1 yet. I'm a big fan of his, but I need to see it before I anoint him.

What would it take to determine both Deebo and BA were 1s?

1000 yards receiving/rushing is the minimum bar.

I already consider Deebo a #1.

Yeah. Aiyuk has potential to be a star, but he still needs to be more productive to be considered a true #1 receiver In the NFL. Either way, this receiving core Is looking Impressive overall.

Man, if you can't get excited about seeing Trey launching some bombs from his Howitzer arm, I dont know what will excite you.

Man the only thing you'll hear me harping on are the high over the middle passes. That will get you picked off, and turnovers will be the determining factor on the upcoming season in my opinion. I do like the progress he is making though. He has been working hard on his footwork, and it's noticeable. He needs to get that release point down so the ball doesn't sail on his throws between the numbers. That should improve with repetition.

The niners are plenty good to carry Trey as long as it takes for him to get it together. Its way too early to be getting shook. Trey isn't Josh Allen, but I see him having a trajectory of Allen or Ben Rapistburger. He just has to not suck this year, and make it too hard on the stout defense that we appear to have.

Trey will be fine. He looked competent in the two NFL games he played last year. This defense made Dak, Aaron, and Stafford look silly at times last year - so Trey's struggles in camp, specially against this defense, is par for the course for me.

Joe and Steve also overthrew their receivers on occasion in practice too. I'm not too worried about Trey. Now that offensive line....

they arent many weapons i would trade Deebo, Aiyuk, and Kittle for

We possibly have the best trio of weapons in the NFL and all are young too

Kittle is 28...
If Trey is better than Nick Mullens from the neck up, then we're good. We know that from a physical tools standpoint, he's orders of magnitude better than Mullens.
Shanahan made Mullens look like an MVP candidate in certain games. But like Jimmy, everything has to be right for him to win games. He can't do it by himself. I remember Mullens turning down a huge scramble at the end of a game vs. the Bears that could have gotten us a first down at least.

IMO Deebo & Aiyuk have what it takes to be true #1 WRs, but the great thing is that this offense doesn't require that true #1 WR, but having these two will only help Trey. And as for stats, they're great and all, but it's more than numbers, let's see how they do blocking, how willing they are to take hits, so much more to being a top tier WR than stats IMO.

Agreed. The worst is fans still don't recognize our own offense, style and predict numbers related to that. 1K receiver here is like a 1,600 receiver in a pass centric offense. Same concept with efficiency stats. That's what you should focus on with Trey within a run-centric offense.
Go Niners 🤘

Still wrapping my head around Leonard Hankerson as our WR coach.
I want to see a bounce-back day from Trey today.

Still pretty young. He's not Vernon Davis after all…
