I wonder if Aiyuks comments about the joint practices were more like "These corners are too easy... how is this helping me?" You saw the life leave that corner during Aiyuk while with Gray he thought he still had a chance.
Thats how I interpreted the comments. Our D was giving Aiyuk trouble. Probably an iron sharpens iron thing and he feels the Vikings werent really up to par.
I'm not sure because we've only see video of our highlights. Theres a video of a 1v1 rep where Aiyuk gets locked down, I'll try to find it and post it.
Here it is:

I didn't see that anywhere…

this might be a way to stash Trey Sermon on the IR squad for the 2nd half of the season, given we're always having injury issues at the RB position late in the season.

This guy is destined for the practice squad.

We had injuries at the position last season and he didn't see much of the field the 2nd half of last season. Sure, we can stash him away but sooner or later the coaching staff is going to have to come to grips with reality.

Don't see that happening until at least next year after seeing what we did with Ford and Hurd.

100%
Sermon lost his best advocate - Bobby Turner. Once Lynn came in, that RB room was going to change. If you're not a tough, hard, decisive runner, you're not going to be around for long.
Agreed on all accounts. If he can't go, this might be it for him here. I know he worked his ass off so I feel for him but he might not be that talented or a great fit for this system...or needs much more development.

i may be wrong but i just dont think he can play at this level
on another note, they gotta stop taking rbs earier than the 5th round, it just isnt working for us

I believe you'll be right on both accounts in the end.

You can't put a guy on short term IR without them making the 53 man roster first.
You can't put a guy on the PUP if they practiced at all. They have to come into camp on the PUP and stay on it until they're activated - if they go into the season on PUP i think it's after week 6 they can come off.

So you don't think TDP will turn out to be a good draft pick for us either?

I don't hate Sermon and saw some improvement even if he didn't blow anyone away, some of it was his fault the other were some bad blocking. But it may be hard for Shanalynch to part ways already. I just don't want to lose Wilson or Mason. Hasty is fun to watch but if Shanalynch gives Sermon one more year… go with the bigger backs. Hasty can't hold up for more than a few games a season anyways.

I like TDP. I think he meant going forward, we probably shouldn't use anymore 3rd round picks and stick to our late round and UDFA gems. At least that's how I took it.
