Take it with a grain of salt because pads aren't on yet, but I thought 49ers running back Jordan Mason looked really good out there today
— Jordan Elliott (@JLeeElliott) July 28, 2022
I think there is a very realistic chance he makes the final 53 man roster due to the added value he can provide on special teams

Would we carry 4 in that case.. plus Juice..
Eli, TDP and Juice are all locks. Would be a surprise if they bailed on Sermon this quickly.

Yeah he was put on notice with the TDP pick. I still would like to see him get a fair shake. His first carry he got busted up. You are right tho he's gotta show it now or he may be in trouble.

It wouldn't surprise me a bit if the starting RB's during the regular season are Jordan Mason and Elijah Mitchell.

Mason would have to beat out Jeff Wilson and Hasty too. Just to be the 4th guy behind Eli,TDP, and Sermon. I think they probably keep 4 RBs +1 for Juice. So 5 total on the active roster. They might have to try and slide Mason through waivers onto the practice squad. I doubt they want to dump Wilson or Hasty. One will have to go though….

I don't think it's that simple if I was Kyle. Kyle loves some pass catching running backs - Jerrick McKinnon comes to mind. Sermon's proved to be able to run good routes and has soft hands. If he can be a *decent* RB - but not outstanding - I think he will have a place in Kyle's offense. I"m betting he sticks, has a quantum level jump in his production in his 2nd year and becomes a valued player to rotate in that RB squad. I Hope! 🙏🙏🙏

I'd say we drop Wilson we have too many guys like him. With Sermon and TDP also being more bruisers

Sermon on the hot seat for sure. RB is one of the easier positions to transition from college to NFL. If he ain't it, the team won't sit around waiting for it to click.

Trey Lance had some rough moments, including a bad INT thrown directly at FS Jimmie Ward. He also had some bright spots, including a long would-be scramble and a well-thrown deep out between two defenders to Brandon Aiyuk. Lance was pleased with how O rebounded from turnovers.

I'm getting a real good feeling about this year's D. Think it could surpass 2019's squad. All we need is someone, anyone, opposite Bosa to provide some pressure and this D will feast all year.
Kerry Hyder had 8 sacks in 2020 in our Wide-9 system, add in a healthy Kinlaw and Arik and an up-and-coming rookie Drake Jackson, I'm hoping Bosa breaks Aldon's sack record this year!
