Davis at TE? Really? I mean, he was fast but that's it. Hands of stone and not much of a blocker. He isn't even ahead of Brent Jones in my book. Gimme Kittle.

Davis is an athletic freak one of the most crazy freaks at the position of all time. He took over the 2011 postseason, including the Catch III and a two TD NFCCG vs NYG. He sparked the whole I WANT WINNERS presser.

Ranks - (Career receptions - yards - TDs)

Davis

583-7562-63

Jones

417-5195-33

Kittle

335-4489-20

Kittle could get on the level, but would have to stay healthy and keep piling up the stats. Davis in a walk as of right now.

Stats are cool but eyeball test says you're wrong. Jones had some receiver on his team that seemed to get the ball thrown his way a lot. Kittle is an athletic freak also but blocks better and after the catch is twice the player Davis was.

From wikipedia:

In the playoffs in the Divisional Round against the New Orleans Saints, he had seven receptions for 180 yards, breaking Kellen Winslow's record (166) for most yards by a tight end in a playoff game.[25] He scored two touchdowns, and on the game-winning drive, he had a critical 47-yard reception that put the 49ers in a position to tie the game. With nine seconds remaining, Davis caught the game-winning touchdown pass from Alex Smith, now referred to as "Vernon Post".[26] Davis caught three passes for 112 yards and another two touchdowns against the New York Giants in the NFC Championship Game, but the 49ers lost 20–17 in overtime.[27]

Also in 2009

In the final game of the [2009] season, he tied the all-time record for most touchdown receptions for a tight end in a single season with 13

He got 13 TDs twice with fairly crap QBs..

Davis sparked that I WANT WINNERS speech because he was a horrible teammate. Seemed to get alligator arms quite a lot too when there was a business decision to be made.

This is correct.. it's part of the comeback story that is Vernon Davis.. the stats speak for themselves most catch / yards / TDs by a 49er TE in history and the Catch III. You are correct tho. But again... Catch III he got demo'd on that one held on and we won.. great victory. Clutch player.

owning a season receiving > those

Don't forget Davis turned into a chick for 6 years after being hit in 2012

if you want to talk stats.. compare their years
I would replace Stubblefield with Nomellini, Fields with Jimmy Johnson and Norton with Dave Wilcox. Wilcox and Nomellini are both HOF players. Wilcox was a pro bowl player 7 times and a 1st team All Pro twice. RB is a tough one. I love Gore but I can't say he was better than McElhenny. I'll stay with Gore only because he played for the Niners a little longer but McElhenny was probably the better back. He didn't have near as many yards because he shared the backfield with another guy that made the HOF.

Fred Dean over Cedric Hardman? Both were great but Cedric was a Niner from day one and had more sacks and played longer than Dean. Bosa is srtill too young to be on the list. Maybe he will be some day.
