Just looking at our track record for acquiring talent:

Running Backs = UDFA
O-Linemen = Free Agency
DB's = Free Agency
QB = ?

We should only draft; WR/DL/LB/TE

Simple strategy LOL

No more day 2 RBs. Stop it, Kyle.

edit: oh wait, TD Price

Agree.

Trade all our day one picks for the all important 5th round!
Good Baldy breakdown on Mason check it out

So he averaged 6.5 catches per season in college, what world beater. How many targets did he have? How many passes did he drop?

If he is a grand slam at being a superstar RB, why did he go undrafted?

Like I said, the coaches must have seen something else out of him that wasn't put on tape during the pre season games. That is quite obvious since he did make the 53 but can you tell me what it was?

Why did Terrell Davis fall into the 6th rd?!? Same for Elijah Mitchell!? Jamal Anderson lasted all the way into the 7th rd and Priest Holmes and Arian Foster were UNDRAFTED!!!! Just because a guy goes late in the draft or goes undrafted, does not mean he doesn't have any talent and has no chance of being a a big time player in the NFL. Clearly! Priest Holmes is a borderline HOF

I think Mason really impressed the staff and the big reason why he beat out Sermon... He is a really good pass blocker and has a great understanding of blocking concepts and is also a really good receiver (unlike Sermon again)

Mason isn't flashy but he seems to have real good vision and knows which hole to hit and hits it quickly, again unlike Sermon who seems to have trouble finding holes quickly and does to much "Dancing" before he hits that hole. Simply put, Mason just seems to be a better, smarter natural football player than Sermon.

Now, I don't see Mason being a star 1,200yd rushing RB, but I do think he will have a role here and I can see him getting 10-15 touches a game and him being our primary 3rd down back.

Yeah he needs to stop being allowed to draft a RB in the first 4 RD's!

Along with a terrible offensive coaching staff

I never said he didn't have any talent. I saw, just like everyone else, why the 49ers liked him. He has good vision and he is a north and south runner. As far as why he went undrafted, I explained that on here. He has not shown to be great at pass pro or great at running routes and catching passes. He will have to get a lot better at both in order to crack the starting lineup. Right now there are 3 guys a head of him on the depth chart.

I was told that the reason why Hasty didn't make the cut is because TDP made him expendable because he is just as good at pass pro and pass catching. I don't think Mason will see much of the field unless both Mitchell and Wilson jr. both end up missing time. Even than, we may just put Deebo back there like we did last season.

Hasty is on a roster. He got claimed. If he did clear waivers, I'm certain he'd be on our PS. I'm actually glad Hasty got claimed and by a team we don't have to see. Not that I fear Hasty, but more so I can root for him to do well each game. I am glad he is getting an opportunity to be on a week 1 roster.

Elijah Mitchell is the saving grace lol. So I'd say 6th/7th + UDFAs. Also, if your are a UDFA running back, San Francisco is THE place. Matt Breida, Jeff Wilson, JaMycal Hasty, and now Jordan Mason all started as UDFAs. With O-lineman, hopefully between Banks, Burford, and Moore this is proven wrong. We need to show we can draft and develop O-linemen. With DBs, Mosely is homegrown as is Ward. We'll see what steps Lenoir and Thomas make.

First five rounds. We are not going to burn our golden round pick on a damn running back.
I'm in a competitive legacy fantasy league with my buddies, going on 15 years now. I just added Mason. It's a long shot, but his trajectory and situation mirror Elijah Mitchell last season.

Don't see Kyle trusting him over Wilson.

Don't worry. Wilson will be hurt in a week or 2 lol.
