We haven't really seen Elijah since the 2021 season. I guess that makes Mason the better option.

Weird, because when it came to Q4 in a very important game in playoffs against Dallas last year, Mitchell was the one who was getting carries. He got more carries than CMC, for that matter. I also remember him scoring a TD against Seattle in the same playoffs.

With RBs, it's very simple with Kyle....he either trusts you or he doesn't. Right now it's pretty clear that the only two backs on the team he trusts are CMC and Mitchell (Deebo too but hes a WR)
Mason is playing only out of necessity, on less-than-important downs or cleanup duty in garbage time. Kyle won't trust a guy who is fumble prone.

For Shanahan, I agree that ball security is important.

But I would also add that the ability to run the outside zone and threaten with it are important. When we had Jeff Wilson Jr early last season, he was actually a very productive runningback for us. But he didn't really scare teams on outside zone plays, and our play action game suffered. A lot of what we do is predicated on making linebackers cheat up, opening up crossing routes behind them.
I hope Mason gets a few good drives when the game is out of hands already.

I want to see both Mason and Mitchell get a few more touches. Not just a play here or there but an actual series. I worry that they're going to overwork CMC or that he'll get hurt. He's too valuable to not have him when the playoffs roll around.

Kyle has to be shaking in his boots with Mason out there is pass protection. But he's also got to give CMC a rest too...sooooo?
Dude ran so hard tonight, love me some Jordan.

lol, man I need to go buy lottery tickets with the way I've been calling things.
Love his running style. Nice game against the Cowgirls.

What more does Mason have to do to get more touches? He showed in preseason that he's worked on his route running and looks solid now.

Thank you Kyle.

Becoming one of my favorite RBs in the Shanahan era. He just runs angry, love it.

I think we brought him in the third qtr,
that's like a 2 inning save, for The Closer
Baby beast mode! More touches for him just to keep CMC fresh for this long season!

this is the whole 2 series on and 1 series off approach, something like that

Mason runs well but did we see on the pass route, he seemingly ran the wrong way, he ran one way, BP threw it another

Mason is looking good. I hope he keeps performing and earning Kyle's trust. This guy came from nowhere. Not a lot of college playing time or experience - almost like a Trey Lance of the running backs.
