Me 2, he needs more playing time, if he can develop into a pass catcher as good as a runner he is, then we have a nice 1-2 combo once Mitchell departs or is traded, doubt they keep Mitchell past 2024.

I'd love to see if we can trade him to Demeco or McDaniel for a 4th or 5th round a la Breida.

Trade him for multiple 5th round picks.

Yup, Brieda's 5th rounder was used to get Trent Williams!

Achane has a knee injury, and is out for a few weeks, IR candidate, but I think they have Wilson coming back eventually, MIAMI of course.

Achane is only 188 Lbs, per Wikipedia. That's smaller than Tony Dorsett. The 49ers smallest guy is Ronnie Bell at 190 lbs.

That's the worry with the Miami Dolphins. They're a frailer version of the 49ers on offense.

Mostert, Achane, and Tua are high injury risk players. Not to mention Waddle's missed time already this season.

his style of running reminds me of another 24... earning a nickname... BABY BEAST MODE !!!

THUNDER AND LIGHTNING IN SAN FRAN!!!

GO NINERSSS !!!

Marshawn was tough to bring down. If Mason can develop his pass routes and receiving, that will be a deadly combination. His TD against Dallas was eye opening, how he just popped through the hole and accelerated.

I love how Mason runs as well. He is a great change of pace back to CMC. He is even better this year now that he is comfortable with the offense. He runs hard and is tough to bring down!
Mason needs to get more touches during games. I hate the way he is underutilized by Kyle. He has proven himself as a runner with every opportunity he's been given, he has managed to stay healthier than Mitchell, who is ALWAYS hurt, and he would be a nice change up from giving McCaffrey 25 touches a game. I get McCaffrey's a stud, which is why you want to have him available through the whole year and not wear him down. I don't see what would be so difficult about giving Mason a bit more playing time.

Well to be fair, Kyle has an embarressment of riches. He has to spread things around to try and keep everyone involved and happy. CMC wants to be in on every play butKyle knows that he needs to rest once in awhile. Deebo and Aiyuk both want the targets but they can't forget about Jennings or even Bell. Oh yah. I forgot Mitchell when he's healthy. Nice problem to have.

Mason had fumble issues in training camp and preseason, so probably it's why he wasn't getting more touches.
I hope they keep getting him involved more & more.

IMO, the more he plays the better he'll improve.

Agree, 🏹🏹🏹 up for Jordan Mason. He'll be key to keeping CMC healthy for sure.

How about this? Brock Purdy, CMC, Jordan Mason: The Million Dollar Backfield.

OK, it's an old nickname. But, I'm old.

I think you just let Mitchell play out his deal. But they definitely should be looking for the next one in terms of talent.

I wonder if McDaniel and his track team of 6 fastest WR's and RB's in Miami will have an influence on Kyle going forward. Our personnel is more short-area, quick and tough YAC players (and they all take a physical toll).

That style has yet to go thr distance or even run a single leg of the race. With that said, Kyle likes speed guys (Mostert was here first, he had Breida, Goodwin, and drafted Gray), so its a nice change up and I'd like to see it but I prefer our style.

I'm hoping Gray is ready to contribute this year.

It's my observation that Shanahan need a bit of a speed threat at the RB position in the outside zone. Because our pass game relies on a successful run game to draw linebackers closer to the LOS, it opens up receiving routes behind them. The more fear we can threaten them with a big run, the more LB's have to cheat up. In addition to all the things that CMC does in the passing game, he's one of the most dangerous outside zone runners in the NFL. Last year, even though Jeff Wilson Jr was averaging around 5 ypc, our offense seemed to be struggling a little bit. Sure, we ran the ball well, but I don't think the play action was as strong at it should've been.

I also agree that we need to limit CMC's usage to keep him fresh/healthy, but our offense becomes a lot less dangerous when he steps off of it. CMC has so much versatility, and ability in the outside zone plays. When Jordan Mason comes in, as a viewer, I'm expecting mostly inside run plays and the occasional outside run play.

I think it's just a matter of time though. He's extremely effective in the fourth quarter four-minute offense, but hopefully (1) we either blow teams out so early in the game that we can run with Mason more, and/or (2) Mason continues to improve his overall game so that he can spell CMC more.
