Here is where the RB room stands contract-wise, excluding Deebo and Juice. Methinks the 49ers will draft an RB in the 3rd round...

I wouldnt be surprised but at the same time nobody if going to give Mason a lot of money on the open market so he could resign for cheap. He may want to leave do to lack of opportunity though.

naturally CMC it doesn't get better than that, but I think if JP was the #1 here he would be a lock for a thousand yards and 10+ scores

He has looked very good in his limited use. I would also like to see him rotated in a lot more next season.

lol misread. I'm just mad that he isn't used at all. Both him and Mitchell would be RB1 on other teams

Totally agree.
Kyle is a bit like Don Nelson as they are not "load management" coaches. Monta Ellis was averaging 40+ minutes per game for a couple of seasons since Nelson wanted the scoring on the floor. Compare later with Steph Curry averaging 35 minutes per game during the dynasty.

Yeah, I can easily see him leaving for a chance to get more carries. He deserves them and Kyle seems pretty intent on running McCaffery into the ground rather than taking some of the load off of him occasionally. As much as I like Mitchell, he can just never stay healthy. I'd rather let him walk and keep Mason.

Good for him
Mason is competing with Elijah Mitchell to be the top backup behind Christian McCaffrey this season. The third-year player, who wasn't much of a pass catcher coming out of Georgia Tech, looks more natural in that area this summer, something he attributes to an offseason purchase: a $3,000 Jugs machine.
"If I'm gonna be something close to Christian, I've got to start catching," Mason said. "That was me investing in myself. I bought that machine, and I had my dad out there … shooting the Jugs machine at me, and I'm running routes and things like that. We had a fun time with it this summer."
