Little concerned about the RB room with CMC injured and uncertain over the next however many games. Mason has been doing great as RB1 but he's getting a lot of usage early in the season. Would be a concern for any RB, and add in Mason not being used to such a workload. Then you have the unproven rookie at RB2 in Guerendo.

Wish E. Mitchell was coming back this season.

I wonder what the Jags would want for Etienne when their season is officially shot.
Do you guys think that Shanny overused CMC last season with those 272 carries?

Now Mason is in pace for 387 carries

That's only because they miscalculated the extent of CMC injury as well as Elijah Mitchell still being injured. That's their number one and two RB out of the picture. Had they drafted a RB more ready to go day one then Mason wouldn't have such a heavy workload

That said Mason is better suited physically to be a bellcow back than CMC was ever built to carry the ball 25 times a contest

Guerrendo has to be able to at a minimum give us five carries next game with the goal of getting up to 10 a game so we can get a 20-10 ratio going between him and Mason. Worst case scenario it should be 25-5 or something of the sort

If you're relying on any production from Guerrendo at the RB I'm afraid you're gonna be disappointed.
Man I hope Shanahan doesn't pound this guy into the ground too. But we are so desperate. What else can you do? Guerendo is worthless.

Mason may be in great shape, but Shanny will tire this guy out .. I say give Cardinal Kid more touches in the 3rd quarter..

Shanahan doesn't seem to trust many players...and he doesn't care if he runs the players he uses into the ground...obviously rest is not in his vocabulary. If Guerrendo is not used and CMC is out indefinitely, it's time to bring in another back via trade.

The usage gets quite a bit closer when you factor in catches too. CMC had 64. Mason only has 6 catches. CMC didn't play the full 17 games as well.

I was thinking the same thing. But candidly, I think the niners are good at RB. They need to slow Mason's usage by about 30%. As for trades, they may need to look to acquire DT, LB, or even an Olineman.
If cmc is out longer than expected, we NEED to get the beast Mason some rest, let guerendo get some touches, he's not as polished a runner, but he still has the size and speed

Yeah but can he hold onto the ball?

Thankful this team drafted a guy to plug in at RG and make an immediate impact like Puni!

And Mason, he just continues to impress. Really like how he hits holes hard and gets downhill fast. DBs better be ready to tackle him - some might want no part.
Baldy is right, Mason's volume is not sustainable especially if we're trying to make a deep playoff run. Then again he's young so I feel like he can handle it.

I don't think anyone is suited to have 25 carries a game for the year except maybe Derrick Henry. I also don't think Mason is better suited because CMC doesn't take as many shots since he's trying to make you miss . Mason try's to punish you more which is not going to hold up in the long run
