I don't think most ppl here are saying take his job permanently but if they're playing at a high level do you really want to mess it up by putting in a guy that hasn't played in like 2 months of real time football. That is the decision at hand for Demeco. At the time being I think they're the No.1 Safety duo in the nfl atm, but I could be wrong.

they could do that, but the topic at hand was him permanently replacing by Ward.

That's not happening. Maybe next year because Ward is a free agent. But not this season. People forget that some believed Ward was our 2nd best defensive player. Though Jimmie did joke today that he doesn't think the 49ers defense needs him right now.

I really think there's enough snaps for Gipson, Hufanga, & Ward at safety, Ward can play the slot if needed, I'm not worried about what happens, they'll make it work, Demeco is a great DC, he'll get it figured out, good problem to have.

I am still wondering if Ward will play in base personnel. The big nickel for 12 and 21 personnel, and Ward is the man off the field for 11 and 22 personnel.it will make for some great disguises and puts your best 11 on the field.

As good as Gipson has been, I think you have to start Ward based on pedigree.

I really liked Womack but I think they prefer Lenoir's physicality. Maybe they think Ward is both. I know he's not a fan of that position; which kind of sucks.

I genuinely don't know much about Ambry in the slot. He certainly isn't winning outside.

Ward has given up 16 catches on 16 targets. Sure he's a great run defender in that spot but it wouldn't be hard to do better against the pass.
