SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS at CHICAGO BEARS - 2022 Game 1

Might be #1 for an extended period of time.

Go look at the colts thread last season. Everyone wanted Jimmy benched and said we weren't making the playoffs blah blah blah.

Games like this one you can clearly see aren't a great indicator of our future. It stopped raining for the bears 2 touchdown drives and started pouring down when it was our turn. You can't make that up, even in a movie, it would sound too unrealistic.

Penalties have to get fixed. The refs did us no favors and Trey needs to be better situationally.

Kyle is solely to blame for this loss. A coach that does not understand how to prepare his team for bad weather games. Really sucks that he learned nothing from the Colts game last year.

What I was thinking. Must win game next week. Already squandered an easy win.
I thought Shanny's playcalling still leaves a lot to be desired. He doesn't allow Lance to get in any rythym at all while the weather is somewhat cooperative, too many runs by the WR's.

He needed to let trey get in rythym and get more early success to provide that confidence. I think sometimes he outsmarts himselft.

Even in the playoffs when he has a lead, Shanny calls conservative plays and doesn't seem to have that killer instinct. He is a great play designer, but I question his game planning.

He gets a D for this game from me.

That's just my $.02
This was week 1 with heavy rain. If this is the offense going into like week 9 then there's reason for concern.

Its kinda just the same old thing with this team and Trey doesn't really change it. At least not yet.

We never kill teams when we have the chance. We had chance after chance after chance to end this game but we always keep teams in it. Any time we go up ten we just hit auto pilot. Its part if the character of this team.

Its still early but we can't overlook anybody because eventhough we might jump out and get a couple possesion lead on a team we'll usually also give them a chance to steal it.

InB4

NY says Kyle can only scheme so much around less than mediocre QB play.

I laughed when people said we're guaranteed to beat the Bears. Dude, when you follow this team for this long, you know there is nothing guaranteed any week.

This is in no way on Trey Trey does not commit penalties that prolong drives. Trey does not fumble deep in bears territory. Trey is not running routes and not getting open and Trey is not letting bears defenders into the backfield play after play also Trey is not calling b******t plays. This was a complete team meltdown. Poor coaching poor execution and s**tty discipline. They keep making bone head plays and we can expect to see more losses like today. Our defense is only good for the fiirst half then blow coverage and penalties. Not good.

It's not all his fault but he wasn't good today. Missed a wide open touchdown by about ten yards, threw a critical INT and gunned a final fourth down pass into the crowd. He wasn't good at all but neither was most of the team. Other than Hufanga and a few others, the whole team and the coaching staff hold responsibility for this loss.

The team should have been up by 21 at half. The offense looked just terrible. In my opinion, one of the worst Shanahan gameplan in his entire time as HC. He called ot like he had no faith in trey, and I don't blame him

I don't blame him when the QB is skipping passes on WR screens. Or missing the easy layups.

For me, if we're 0-2 after next week, there is a big concern.

Agree. Shanny outsmarts himself, constantly. I think we need a new playcaller, he can provide the excellent plays he creates but someone else to choose when to use what.
hate everything about this loss.

only we find a way to lose this.

we outgain them and owned TOP.

We take penalties (F the refs too on those) and we are too comfortable letting teams hand around.

We punted 2 or 3 times in the 1st half before the blunt of the penalties came. Those punts should have been scores and we would have been up alot more by half. Shanny called a conservative game plan for Trey's benefit because he's "learning". This is what we're gonna have to deal with as Trey learns this year.

Deebo fumbled in Chicago territory. We dropped a pick. Those could also have been scores but instead they went the other way. I'm not a fan of dumping Trey for this loss, just like I wouldn't have dumped on Jimmy had the game gone similarly if he was in, which, it likely would have. The whole team needs to be better and more disciplined.

On paper we should have an easy road to the SB based on talent
