SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS at CHICAGO BEARS - 2022 Game 1

Im a jimmy G fan but I saw a kid doing everything he could today.

me thinks the over reactions will come fast and furious after this but ease up on the kid. Fields had an entire season to stink it up.

The most concerning part to me was the drop off in run production once Elijah Mitchell went out. I didn't think Wilson added much.

Anyone who knows kyle shanahan and the Niners knew they would lose this; or at least come close to losing.

he called the worst red zone plays, the predictably awful first time center and guards were awful, Lance was about as expected (in not a good way).

sure it was ripe for an upset but it felt certain and at the same time, EASILY avoidable. Chicago was as bad as they were anticipated to be. And this team lost by two scores to em. And not because of the weather.

AGREE...

if everyone can just be honest.. all the blames point to KS10.. he being a good OC and all the hype he got starting from Big Mouth Sharpe and the rest of the talk show.. they made him BETTER than what he is and many fans here just believed that he is THAT good..

our team is talented but we don't have a talented HC.. that's the bottom line..

When I turned on the pre-game show and saw it was a downpour in Chicago I immediately thought this was the kind of game the Niners would lose. On the road, against a poor team is bad weather, Shanahan always seems to falter in those scenarios.

I do think the team will improve as the season progresses. And it's hard to take much away from a game like this. Other than the Bears played much, much more disciplined football than the Niners did. Penalties need to be cleaned up, and the defense needs to stick to their assignments. Had the Niners just done that they probably walk away with a W.

EXCUSES for KS10 is running out..

Been saying this for 3. years now..

Yup. Fire him after a week 1 loss after he got us to the NFCCG the season before.

oh, don't get me wrong.. he's not gonna get fired.. not this year at least.. so keep enjoying his COACHING ways.

Best part of this game is no significant injuries. Thinking we're be fine even without Mitchell for a bit. Steelers probably lost Watt, which means they're screwed.

Loser mentality. Inexcusably lose a gimme game to one of the worst teams; get kinlaw and starting rb injured…and your response is "at least we didn't have more injuries"

that's a low bar to set.
Pettis and the bears revenge game
Not really concerned with the loss but I'm a little concerned with a few things:

1. Penalties. Love Greenlaw but he takes it too far sometimes and has done so his entire career.

2. Hate the called QB runs. Lance won't last 17 games. Kyle called these last year when Lance played and now he's calling them again. WTF!!! QBs like Lance are deadly when the play breaks down and they are forced to run. Not so much when the play call is a QB power run.

3. Lance has accuracy issues. I will give him a pass this week due to the monsoon but he misses too many short throws.

Defense dominated the first half and if they cut down on the penalties they are going to be elite. They will need to carry the team early on until Lance and the offense can find their groove.

Lmao week 1s are always weird, not sure why some thought this was going to be an easy win. rainy game with a first time starter, plus this offense always looks lost without Kittle out there. It's called brushing it off and moving on, we should be able to beat Seattle. The interior offensive line is a real concern

And Fields still played poorly in this game. 8/17 for 121 yards, with the majority of those yards coming on 2 breakdowns in the Niners secondary. Let's not forget Gibson dropped a gimme INT on a terrible throw from Fields. Fields pretty much did nothing from the pocket all game long.

Lance wasn't a ton better to be fair, but I thought he did a decent job trying to work the pocket in terrible conditions. He had a beautiful throw to Aiyuk early in the game and the throw to Jennings was good. He needs to work on the short to intermediate accuracy and really has to get away from throwing balls in the dirt. Overall I thought he played as I expected he would in a monsoon.

Mason should have had some touches.

Deebo Samuel- 8 targets, 2 catches for 14 yards.

1 big fumble on the day as well.

If we are talking Deebo the RB than he was 8 attempts for 52 yards, 1 TD and 1 fumble.

Switch the uniforms for Fields and Lance and the 49ers win and Lance looks like a high schooler.

No because there would be more pressure on Fields and none on Lance. Right now there is literally zero pressure on Fields to succeed. The Bears aren't expected to compete for a title anytime soon.

Anybody else worried that Jeff Wilson Jr. is the #2? He hasn't looked good in any of his last few outings even going back to last season.

The fact that he is the 2 show the RB room is a liability. He is not the answer yet the rookie wasn't active and sermon was cut. Not a good look for the personal department.

I'll wait until week 4 to judge, but yeah Wilson hasn't shown a lot in awhile.

Fields played like dog s**t. Take away the stupid penalties and the bears are 0-1.
