Anyone who knows kyle shanahan and the Niners knew they would lose this; or at least come close to losing.

he called the worst red zone plays, the predictably awful first time center and guards were awful, Lance was about as expected (in not a good way).

sure it was ripe for an upset but it felt certain and at the same time, EASILY avoidable. Chicago was as bad as they were anticipated to be. And this team lost by two scores to em. And not because of the weather.

AGREE...

if everyone can just be honest.. all the blames point to KS10.. he being a good OC and all the hype he got starting from Big Mouth Sharpe and the rest of the talk show.. they made him BETTER than what he is and many fans here just believed that he is THAT good..

our team is talented but we don't have a talented HC.. that's the bottom line..

When I turned on the pre-game show and saw it was a downpour in Chicago I immediately thought this was the kind of game the Niners would lose. On the road, against a poor team is bad weather, Shanahan always seems to falter in those scenarios.

I do think the team will improve as the season progresses. And it's hard to take much away from a game like this. Other than the Bears played much, much more disciplined football than the Niners did. Penalties need to be cleaned up, and the defense needs to stick to their assignments. Had the Niners just done that they probably walk away with a W.

EXCUSES for KS10 is running out..

Been saying this for 3. years now..

Yup. Fire him after a week 1 loss after he got us to the NFCCG the season before.

oh, don't get me wrong.. he's not gonna get fired.. not this year at least.. so keep enjoying his COACHING ways.

Honestly Kyle's offense looks like a highschool gimmick. He looks like an idiot on game day compared to Reid. He has to be out of rope with this Trey stunt.

Not really concerned with the loss but I'm a little concerned with a few things:

1. Penalties. Love Greenlaw but he takes it too far sometimes and has done so his entire career.

2. Hate the called QB runs. Lance won't last 17 games. Kyle called these last year when Lance played and now he's calling them again. WTF!!! QBs like Lance are deadly when the play breaks down and they are forced to run. Not so much when the play call is a QB power run.

3. Lance has accuracy issues. I will give him a pass this week due to the monsoon but he misses too many short throws.

Defense dominated the first half and if they cut down on the penalties they are going to be elite. They will need to carry the team early on until Lance and the offense can find their groove.

I agree that Dre plays aggressive, but one of those fouls on him was total crap.
Alot of older guys know it will take a lot more than this to phase us. When it gets difficult how do you carry yourself? I can tell the younger or weak guys already collapsing.

I take pride in rising above nonsense. Have more faith and see how this plays out. I didn't even want lance but I know it's more than just one game. Hell it's more than a season. What did you guys expect

This wasn't a game that should have hinged on a few penalties. It should have been a blowout pure and simple. When the time came for the new QB to step up and win the game he went backward. Given the choice between Fields and Lance, Fields in a heartbet.

This is one thing I struggle to understand. Where is the gimmick? Looks like a pretty traditional modern NFL offense. A wide zone run game that feeds into a play action passing game to hit big plays. The passing game itself seems mostly West Coast based with an emphasis on hitting crossers to get YAC. This kind of offense is all over the NFL.

If Kyle has to go back to Jimmy then he needs fired at the end of the year
Team stats from the game.

3rd downs- 49ers 47%, bears 36%
Rushing 1st downs- 49ers 11, bears 6
Passing 1st downs- 49ers 5, bears 4
Penalty 1st downs 49ers 1, bears 5
Pass yards - 49ers 155, bears 105
Rushing yards- 49ers 176, bears 99
Penalties- 49ers 12-99, bears 3-24
Turnovers- 49ers 2, bears 1
Time of possession- 49ers 33:28, bears 26:32

A classic shot ourselves in the foot kind of game. If it weren't for turnovers and penalties we should have won. We out played them in all other categories. I have confidence that we will bounce back.

Lol Reid looked done before Mahomes showed up.
Lol the overreactions in here are priceless.
Maybe it was just a seizure.

I think we will as well. Bad weather games are just like this, evens up the talent.
thing that pissed me off the most is that kitty kat Pettis pwned us
I blame this unmitigated disaster today squarely 100% on Grant Cohn. He has to go and predict the team will win the whole thing this year and everybody knows he's always, always wrong. Stupid prick everything he thinks, predicts, says completely sucks.

Has nothing to do with the outcome of the game: he's not a coach or player
I thought Hufanga was awesome! Greenlaw was terrible! Dumb penalties and blown coverages. 110 yards in penalties? They need more disciplined players. This is supposed to be Greenlaw's contract year? He needs to improve and show some dicipline!
