me thinks the over reactions will come fast and furious after this but ease up on the kid. Fields had an entire season to stink it up.
The Trey Squad has been rooting against this team for the sake of replacing Jimmy for a few years now, so the anti-Trey response is going to be amplified to match the absurdity.
Fact is, the majority of fans don't get it, one way or another, and are told what to think by media talking heads and Twitter takes that fit 140 characters.
Jimmy wasn't the problem before, and the fanbase is gonna learn that real fast with games like today where the offense is completely stagnant and inefficient. They'll blame things like the o-line, not realizing that the o-line has been a problem and the obsession at scapegoating Jimmy has meant that the o-line has gone overlooked and assets that coulda be used to address it are now gone in the Trey Lance investment.
Trey Lance wasn't the problem today. He didn't contribute positively, but there were bigger issues today like defensive penalties, Kyle's gameplan, and the weather. To me, today is not indicative of what to expect of Trey going forward. It didn't make me feel positive going forward, but there was also too much at play for this one single game to be the defining moment of Trey's career. Fans suggesting as such are just being absurd.
Next week will be our first genuine look at Trey Lance. If you're judging Trey off of today, you're just as bad as those who have been obsessed with replacing Jimmy to the detriment of the entire team.
