SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS at CHICAGO BEARS - 2022 Game 1

Lance had a wide open TE and couldn't convert while Fields did when he had the opportunity. I am not saying Fields is better than Lance but Fields had a better game. Fields might even be better overall this year because he has more experience and is a better athlete. Lance played in the same condition as the Bears, with a much better team, with top tier WRs and RBs. Still missed easy passes and threw a terrible interception. I do expect that he improves as the season goes on though. His mechanics and his throwing motion is just… ugly. This should also improve overtime though and hope he learns quickly.

Kroft was open in a window. Pettis was standing like a country mile away from any other player. It was pure pitch and catch.

I totally disagree that Fields had a better game. He was total garbage for most of the game. The 49ers secondary blew several coverages, and the team as a whole couldn't stop committing penalties. We handed them the game on a silver platter.

For how bad the OL was Lance actually made plays to get them off the hook.

As for the mechanics, his mechanics are fine. They did a feature on why people think his mechanics suck, and it has to do with a ball hitch right before he throws. It doesn't affect the throw or release time at all, but it makes his release look weird, so people think he's not doing it right. Holding the ball out vertically with two hands, he points it forward horizontally before he winds up. My guess is its a timing mechanism.

This game was a fluke and the team laid an egg. I feel like they'll look better next week at home. And please activate Danny Gray this time to add a deep element to the offense.

I mean Jennings caught a deep pass. Aiyuk caught a deepish pass. Ray-Ray caught a deepish pass.

I disagree for the following reason: while Fields was terrible at running the Bears offense, he did very well on a few crucial off-schedule plays. His natural talent is off the charts, which is why he was the top of most of our lists. Lance only climbed out because he has outstanding character and work ethic, but rest assured, even if that does come to fruition, it will take several years of trial and error on his part.
Oh Crud. Just realised its Broncos next after Seachooks.

Sounds like he will be on another team by then?
So, do we suck?

On a flooded field and then heavy rain. Yes we do

Early days but we been here before. It just feels worse when you have the build up and start to beleive the SB hype train. Just to realise that they were unprepared with a bunch of egos that our conservative coach held out of trial games. They will come good.

He has a four year contract with a fifth year option. Assuming he's able to improve each yeah, before the fifth year becomes an issue he'll reach his potential.

The overreactions in here have been very entertaining.

Yes every time we kill ourselves with 12 penalties... Three of them on 3rd down and after we stop them, all result on TD...

You can't blame them. Losses are never easy, but when you were a 7 point favorite to win by a majority in NFL land, it's going get talked about.
Dre Greenlaw just got another penalty
