Is that right? Ouch.

No just the first 13 points were

The last 6 points were the result of the Niners getting a penalty on 2nd and 11 for an automatic 1st down (and goal).

Well same difference. Just exhausting on a team.
going back to last season, we have far too many strange games where SF dominates the stat line and loses the game, (Arizona at home last year for example]. CHI had 2O4 total yards and wins. I don't think this is on Lance or the players. I love Kyle, I think he's one of the best coaches and we're lucky to have him, but sometimes, the flow of the game is so stunted, clunky, that the offense never gets into a rhythm. Sometimes it feels impossible to score a touchdown from within the ten yard line, and we always settle for FG. I watched the Chiefs and it seems like Andy Reid's offense just flows, and I'm not comparing Andy to Kyle, just noting the difference I observed, it made me wonder what a coach like Reid could do with a Trey Lance. Today our offense had no rhythm or identity or flow, and combine that with deebo's fumble in the RZ, means no points. a concerning trend

Reminded me of the Titans game last year. Deebo fumbling was just a sign of things to come.

Lance had a wide open TE and couldn't convert while Fields did when he had the opportunity. I am not saying Fields is better than Lance but Fields had a better game. Fields might even be better overall this year because he has more experience and is a better athlete. Lance played in the same condition as the Bears, with a much better team, with top tier WRs and RBs. Still missed easy passes and threw a terrible interception. I do expect that he improves as the season goes on though. His mechanics and his throwing motion is just… ugly. This should also improve overtime though and hope he learns quickly.

Kroft was open in a window. Pettis was standing like a country mile away from any other player. It was pure pitch and catch.

I totally disagree that Fields had a better game. He was total garbage for most of the game. The 49ers secondary blew several coverages, and the team as a whole couldn't stop committing penalties. We handed them the game on a silver platter.

For how bad the OL was Lance actually made plays to get them off the hook.

As for the mechanics, his mechanics are fine. They did a feature on why people think his mechanics suck, and it has to do with a ball hitch right before he throws. It doesn't affect the throw or release time at all, but it makes his release look weird, so people think he's not doing it right. Holding the ball out vertically with two hands, he points it forward horizontally before he winds up. My guess is its a timing mechanism.

The air got let out of our tires the moment Elijah went down. The OL did Trey no favors . Yes Trey has some mechanical issues. Yes there were some crummy calls, one of which #54 slid over the top of Fields on the way out of bounds. That was no foul.

But the most notable among all the above was Trey's incredible inability to not STARE down his receivers. He literally looked at the guy he was going to throw to from the moment he left the LOS. Only thing worse would have been if he pointed at the receiver while at the LOS. Trey is no magician in handing off the ball, like Joe was. He goes thru the motions on QB fakes but really they fool no one. Trey never leaves any doubt as to where the ball is or who has it…or if passing , who it's going to. Kyle can't scheme guys open when Trey is locked on the guys he's throwing to.

Those all seem like things one would expect a NFL QB to come equipped with, but sadly, Trey needs work on not looking down his receiver and being a whole lot better on faking handoffs. He isn't going to be Joe the magician who we watched hand the ball off and frequently, no one knew who had it. But Trey has to work on not telegraphing his pass from the gitgo, and he should work on pump fakes. Lastly, he is going thru the motions of faking handoffs, but with a bit more work, he should be able to make his fake hand offs actually surprise the D on occasion.

OB coach and Kyle have some basic QBing skills they need to teach our QB. Granted, none of this would have won this game. Stupid stupid penalties lost it, along with a fumble (#19) , errant passes, and dropped balls. Coaching up our QB, however, is basic and needs attention immediately. Trey will find a lot more targets open if he works on the basics.

Did George Odum start the game at safety then get replaced, or was Gipson the starter?
On a more positive, I thought Banks had a pretty decent game. It seemed most of the pressure was coming from the right side.

Gipson started I believe. And missed an easy INT. Tartt would be proud. Though in his defense he didn't expect the pass to be that bad. He was covering the WR and went for the hit thinking he was just tackling the WR after the catch but Fields was off target and the ball hit Gipson in the chest.

Okay. Damn, Tavarious Moore got passed over by an over the hill safety.

The turning points for me.. the Deebo fumble, the missed TD to Kroft, the dropped int and penalty that kept their TD drive alive.. that's about a 17-21 point swing on 3-4 plays

I said this yesterday and still believe it. If either the Deebo fumble doesnt happen or Lance can hit on that pass to Kroft, the 49ers open up an insurmountable lead in the first half, and the comeback wouldnt have happened. The comeback was a perfect storm of crap and/or undisciplined play. Niners are up 17+ to 0, the comeback never happens.

Kyle doesnt know the meaning of insurmountable lead.

biggest choke job in the super bowl history, twice
biggest choke job in NFC championship history

I miss the days of 1990's Niner football when not only did we know we were better but we stomped people out by 40 points every week.
I agree about the Niners often not being able to score TDs inside the ten. Yesterday they were on the 5 and Kyle called that wide end run that takes too long to develop and the Bears smothered it. Then Trey got sacked on the next play and they were forced to kick a FG. This happens too much. It's always tougher to score when the defense has less ground to cover but the Niners seem to have a real problem here. I always liked the fade to the corner of the end zone but they don't have the QB or the receiver to do that effectively.

Fade is the least effective pass to call in the redzone actually.
Why are there hindsight posters adding to the poll with a bears win?

Seriously, how bad is that right side?

Adding to my block list. Someone saying this b******t so early in this game has nothing of value to to contribute ever.

WOW look at all this hate over one seemingly innocuous observation which, sadly, turned out to be correct. Guys, we are all on the same team. What's the point of name calling and vicious attacks? Let's take a breath and talk about what needs to be done and what CAN be done to fix our team. I haven't given up on Lance even though he was outplayed in ONE GAME in a MONSOON. Hell, Take away the horrible officiating ALONE and we're in this game. I trust Shanny can fix this. If not we will know soon enough.
Either way, I never have and never will call anyone names or attack them if they disagree with my opinion.

You made that post early in the first quarter. You were trolling and you know it.

Nope just my opinion at the time. If you don't want to believe me that's OK.

I don't believe you. Fields only completed 8 passes in this game and half of them came in the second half. When you made that silly post in the first quarter Fields had only completed two passes and none of them were over ten yards. Lance completed two passes in the first quarter for 47 yards. Make it make sense.

And 4 of them were to RB's. Fields made 2 good throws that entire game. 1 of them on a huge blown coverage. But people are grading Fields on a curve because of the team infront of him. But still doesn't mean he was good.
