SF 49ERS at Panthers Pregame Thread - 2022 Week 5

We should obviously win this game and I think bosa gets another 2 sacks on his homie Baker, but what worries me is our offensive line.

moore is just horrendous, hopefully he proves me wrong this week, but I really hope Williams is back in two weeks

The question is what happens to Jimmy if you take away the offensive genius masking his deficiencies and put him on a subpar offense. I think those three are closer than you think….

on the flip side, we know what Jimmy's ceiling is. Do we know what Baker Mayfield's is ? Could Kyle get more out of him ? Is he more mobile than Jimmy ? Does he have a stronger arm ? Willing to take more shots downfield? Open up the playbook ?

I'll stick with my original assessment for now. I think all 3 are easy substitutes for each other without a drop in play. But I do think Baker has more potential than Jimmy…

Let's give jimmy the equivalent of OTAs and PS, where he would have gotten two full months with his WRs, and see how he plays 3, 4, maybe 5 games from now. You just can't evaluate a guy right now who spent all his OTA, PS just trying to get his shoulder back in throwing shape but got NO time with his WRs. Let's look at this 5 games from now and hope the D can win a good chunk of the next 4 or 5 games with not much O input.

Last yr that wouldn't have happened…this yr? Yeah, well, there's that D thing…

EXACTLY what I posted 2 weeks ago.. the fact that he wasn't even given a playbook, and how he was told that the team are going w/Lance.. that alone take you out mentally of being ready to play a game...

to make a long story short, if Grappy ain't all that while participating in all of the off season program, then what do you expect from him when he doesn't get those?

I mean, Kyle had all year to come up w/a Plan B if Lance gets injured, and he couldn't.. thank goodness Grappy agreed to stay humble and accept the 6mil..

The playbook has changed? Looks about the same as ever to me. Any slight changes should be easy for a guy that's been in the system since 2017.

No question Moore was horrendous 2 games ago. But against Rams, his name was mentioned when he went in for injured McKivitz , but then nothing after that…and when you don't hear an OLs name called, then usually they are playing well. Also no sacks of Jimmy against Donald and the Rams.

Whatever it was that Jaylon had 2 games ago, he seemed to have it under control Mon nite. That was pretty close to how he played at RG and RT last yr. IDK if he gave up pressures or hits, but definitely no sacks. Let's hope that continues this weekend.

DON'T you think KS10 added more plays to his gimmick offense?

DON'T you wonder how most of the fans here have given up on Grappy, but NOT KS10?

WHY keep going back to the horse that will not get you there?
Imagine pretending that you think you're so smart about football, that you believe calling Kyle's offense gimmicky is right 😂 Derp. Half the damn league runs this offense or is trying to find some that can.

Jimmy was the backup for a reason and now we're stuck rolling with him for the ROS. Which compared to what every other team has as a backup isn't bad at all…just run the offense, manage the game, limit TOs and SF will win a bunch of games.

Idk much about him, but it sounds like you think he has some serious potential?
Hey y'all I'm a season ticket holder from Pacifica, CA but a year ago I joined the Navy and I'm currently stationed in VA. I'll be making the drive to see them at Carolina because I most likely won't be making a home game this year.

Is anyone going to be there? Does anyone know how I can get in touch with traveling faithful to link up for tailgates/after party (because we'll be celebrating after the big W).

Thank you in advance 🙏🏽

Jaylon played a lot last yr, got plenty of PT, and altho he wasn't a standout, he did ok at RG / RT. Two games ago, it looked like a guy from Pluto was dropped on the field and asked to play LT when Trent went down. Man that was ugly. Don't know how many whiffs but on two consecutive series i dont think he made one good block. Then Mon nite, he looked like last yr's Jay Moore. ;

He's good enough to start, but hasn't stood out so far. McG's play has been really welcome, what wtih Trent out the other side. Then it is the triple B's and Jaylon probably is on par with that group, but able to be Better . Anybody can have a stinko game and two weeks ago was Jaylon's. Somebody did a heckuva coaching job for just one week and Jaylon responded.

Thanks for your service. Nothing official for this game : https://www.49ers.com/fans/invasions

NY i might quibble with "and now we're stuck rolling with him ROS", and restate it as "we are damn lucky we signed Jimmy at the 11th hour, and that he is QBing us" . The rest is fine. I know you were trying to be somewhat complimentary, but this way just looks and sounds a little better.

I appreciate it! And thanks for your support!

NO need to imagine that you know football, being a fan of KS says it all.. not seeing his offense is a GIMMICK also is not a bad thing... HE JUST SUCKS as a HC.. hey, it's sad but there are a lot of good OC that can not be a HC..

HALF of the damn league WAS trying to run Bill Walsh's offense, how did they do?

HAD there been any team that was willing to trade for Grappy, I'm sure he would have been traded already.. the fact is, he's here because NO ONE wanted him.. because had KS10 really wanted Grappy, then why was the 6million was not offered until the season started?
wtf is KS10?

KS are the initials for our HC Kyle Shanahan and 10 refers to the 10 point lead vs KC in the Super Bowl and the Rams in the NFCCG.. I didn't come up with this.. just answering your question
