can't run unless we pass
Four games into a season is still statistically iffy to me. But then again, you only have 17 games unlike baseball.
Talk me down, fam. Fool that I am I'm starting to believe in this team again

I hate it when expectations are so high that the team ends up making the other team break records and change their fortunes at times.

Can the offense finally come out on this game? More than 20 points offensively?

This is one of my biggest frustrations. This is a team we should dominate defensively. I mean dominate. When we play these types of teams though it seems Shannys game plane is to get up by ten to fourteen and then just run the ball.

Can we please just curb stomp these next two teams and get the offense rolling? Prove that we can beat a team by 21 or more. Stop playing just to barely win.

He has some pretty good kill shot plays where Jimmy either doesn't pull the trigger or misses guys. But Kyle definitely doesn't try to kill teams the way Mike did. But I think it's more of function of the QB, because he certainly cut throats when Matt Ryan was his QB.

i think the offense will get better as time goes on

Jimmy G didnt throw at all this offseason because of the surgury and didnt really practice with the team. It will be a quick adjustment because system and familiarity with players is there but they will be some rust understandably. He got 0 reps with the team in TC practice and preseason

Or if the 49ers don't turn the ball over. I can't see a scenario where CAR methodically drives the ball down the field versus this 49er defense. I also don't see CAR making multiple explosive plays. The CAR offense will need help to score points in the name of turnovers to put them in favorable field position. Take care of the ball and let the talent win out.

49ers offense still has to prove it can sustain. Let's hope we can build on the success on offense they had last week. As Jimmy gets in football shape, let's hope he can continue to get better and develop a better rapport with Aiyuk and quite possibly Gray who's questionable.

Add in 2 things. Kyle has to continue to coach up the weak links in the OL, and to coach away from the weak and toward the strength. Jaylon Moore who was absolutely frightful at LT last week, fanned on virtually every play…Kyle somehow coached him up. He gave up no sacks, so big improvement. We have seen him play way better than that before. 2nd thing is for kyle to remind jimmy every time he goes on the field that if receiver is covered up, throw it at his feet, and DON'T try and put it thru a tiny crack in the D. If kyle does those two things, coaching up OLs that are having a bad go of things and reminding Jimmy, i think we can see more games like Mon nite's.

I agree. The offense was a bit better, but let's not act like it wasn't a 1 score game until Huff made a play. 27th ranked offense out there with Debo, Kittle, Aiyuk, Jennings and still good RB on the roster.

GM's statement just looks flat out incongruous…ie, with that talent and firepower, it couldn't be true…UNLESS:

You have a QB who is brand new to the NFL , or…a QB who hasn't spent much time with the firepower. And that is exactly what happened as everyone knows. Looking at the previous game, it is easy to believe. After this one, it gets harder. Simply put, Jimmy has now had basically 2 weeks of OTAs,, PS, or spending ANY time with his team due to the bizarre string of happenstances that occurred this past preseason, starting well before OTAs.

There were some that said Jimmy should be ready to go right off the bat, and that he didn't really need PS and work with his teammates. But as I posted after game last week, he has had to completely relearn the muscle memory necessary to get a football to go where he wants. Specifically, it is hand-eye-coordination with hand-eye-shoulder coordination, and was completely new to his shoulder component. That is gradually working itself thru the process but getting in sync with each WR and his routes, patterns, and idiosyncrasies, is another mountain to climb.

No question the rams D was a good marker to compare against, and unquestionably, Jimmy is on the way back. I figured for Trey, it took a full 3 months of working wth WRs for him to feel comfortable. And then, once season started, it would take 4, maybe 5 games to get really comfortable with his receivers. With Jimmy, i never thot about it because Trey going down after 5 quarters of play just blindsided everybody.

For JG, we really should have figured not 3 months of throwing but 3 months of throwing to his WRs. He had none. Then once the season started he would need 4, maybe 5 games to get used to totally new OL, and same for WRs. The expectations that he would succeed right out ot fhe box were way overdone. So what we end up with is a ton of firepower with a QB who is gradually getting back to square one. And he isn't there yet. He's done it before so maybe another 2-3 weeks to get his shoulder regrooved with his WRs, and then, most likely that 27th ranking gets closer to what it really is.

right now the firepower is waiting for the QB to catch up. It will still be awhile yet. Meantime we have a colossal D that doesn't need that much to win on its own. Still our O HAS to help produce something. If we can just stay in the mix the next 3-4 games, maybe 5, we have a good shot of going deep in playoffs and hopefully SB to win it all. But we have to stay somewhat in the mix til then. What a time to have a D to keep us in it until JG is back where he needs to be.
