as talented as CMC is now, I just don't think he is MORE talented than Ricky Watters.. how many times had CMC gone over 1000 yards rushing?

This is Moon we're talking about, claims he was around for the 80s, yet acts like a child with stupid nicknames.

DO YOU BOTH NOT remember cleaning up a kid's POOF in the bathroom where you guys were assigned to after the game??

That was mine !!!

Popcorn did not sit well.

What???? He's 26.....It's not like he's a 31 year old back....He's in his prime. This is on par with the 49ers getting Ricky Watters in 94 - or even more so

CMC is a lot more talented than Watters

That says a lot, because Ricky Watters was an excellent RB, and one of my favorite Niners of all time!

You would know Tom!

CMC is NOT more talented than Watters..

Watters can play the WR position ... Watters can be a BELL COW.. Watters can return punt and kick-offs.

CMC is very talented, but he's NOT more talented than Watters.. you can compare him to the old D.Meggett or E. Metcalf..

youre wrong and i doubt youre old enough to have been an adult watching Watters play for the Niners in the early 90s. i am.

and yes CMC can also return kicks if he had to. look at his college career.

I watched every game that Watters played in on the 49ers...

I think Watters is better too.

CMC seems to be more disciplined, and unquestionably has a better short yard burst, he is Frank Gore like. I also don't think it is debatable CMC has better hands, I don't recall Watters having circus catches let alone one handed snags with just shear hand strength.

I think they both run hard and are true RBs when it comes to taking them down. Watters was probably the stronger runner.

Watters is probably faster in a straight line, and unquestionably more agile. Watters was a deep threat, and could be an actual NFL flanker. Not that CMC has poor vision, but Watters was a cut-back king, he has top tier vision, combined with rare patience to allow his blocks to set up, probably why most of us remember him weaving though traffic as often as we do.

Having said that, CMC never had Steve Young, Never had Rathman or Floyd blocking for him, never had the pass threat of Rice and Taylor, Never had an historically great NFL offensive system to work with-in. So what I think today could easily change.

I would not compare CMC to Craig.

Craig is a unicorn.

Craig at FB was simply AMAZING. When we had the double FB backfield of Craig and Rathman it was really fun to watch.

People forget how often the FB touched the ball for Bill Walsh.

Take Juice's impact and multiply it by 10, then you are in the realm of Craig.

Craig was closer to Frank Gore lite, and then add in Kittle in one dude, THEN stick him at FB so you can keep all your WRs, your RBs and your TE on the field at the SAME TIME.

yes, Roger was drafted as a FB for Wendell... he was our FB when we beat Marino in the Super Bowl..

I couldn't compare Roger to CMC because Roger was not a slasher.. he was a punisher IMO.

what other #s were available?

Lol #23 is fine. Much better than the eyesore that is WRs and DBs wearing single digits

TRUE - I hate that..

In what world is CMC a WR, a bell cow back or capable of returning kicks? He's literally been all of that.

Say what you will about trading for a RB but he most certainly can ball

I'm excited about the trade but this is a misleading tweet by Schefter.

There are a number of all-time great RB's (Emmitt Smith, Eric Dickerson, Walter Payton, LaDainian Tomlinson, Marshall Faulk, Adrian Peterson, Edgerrin James, etc.) who would be higher up on this list if not for their twilight years where they still played but got few carries. McCaffrey is in the middle of his prime and hasn't reached the twilight yet so of course his yards per game will be higher compared to other greats.

All I'm hoping for is for him to keep up this pace for us for the remainder of his contract (3.5 seasons).

We all take Moon's posts with a grain of horse manure. He has the absolute worst takes on this forum.

Agree. The notion that CMC is more talented than Watters or this trade is comparable to the Faulk trade based on two seasons of out 6 can only be found in Niner Talk.

A week ago nobody would claim that on here or they would be laughed off of this board.
I like the comparison of Craig and CMC for their run and catch abilities. Style wise, they are different animals.

So looking at CMC's injuries…the extent of it is a couple high ankle sprains, A/C joint sprain and hammy pull.

for whatever reason I thought the dude tore his ACL or achilles. I mean sprains suck and can reoccur but not as bad as what I initially thought.
And it was during the Covid season where no one had a regular offseason program and dudes all over the league were getting injured.
Hopefully that's a blessing in disguise. If he had stats those last two years like he did the first three years, he definitely would be more expensive to acquire.

^Thats a good point right there

HAHHAA... keep poking on a HC who's earned every thing he has thus far.. the wins.. .the losses..

What's your HC's total record again ??
Whats PJ's NFL Record ?

0-0

I'm sure u know that he doesn't have any DADDY in the NFL that built him up the way your HC got built.

or did you not know that either?

Your posts are great comedy, I mean it's amazing, your deep understanding of the game of football(watch out jonnydel!). How you constantly set the time aside to embarrass yourself publicly for the entertainment of others is awesome. We appreciate your sacrifice more than you can ever know.
