It seems like many of CMCs big gains come on the opening drive. After that the runs are shorter and shorter. I know they script those first few plays but is that the difference? Are teams just adapting quickly or is Kyle not as imaginative after that opening drive.

CMC has given everything to this team. When Kyle ran him immediately after getting clocked in the head Marquise Goodwin-style, I knew he'd never make it through the season here. Kyle is way too deep into play calling to see the HCing things including protecting his players.
100% this.
I tend to agree. Might be a good idea to find a real offensive coordinator that Kyle trusts to call plays.
lol 2x. Kyle calls the plays. If anything he needs a whisperer in his ear to remind him not to run certain players into the ground.
I wasn't proposing a different play caller. But he needs to have someone with authority to remove players from the game for possible injuries, and to remind Kyle about their usage rate.
And records.

CMC had that 45 yard TD run in the 3rd quarter of the PIT game. He had a 51 yard run on the 2nd drive of the rams game. He had a 17 yard run on the 3rd drive against the giants. Had an 18 yard TD run on the 2nd drive of the ARI game. Also a 16 yard run in the 3rd quarter of the ARI game. He has also had several 10-13 yard runs throughout the season that occured in the 2nd half of games. These past two weeks must have your eye tester off.

Kyle Shanahan says Christian McCaffrey is still getting an MRI on his ribs/oblique. He said it's not known yet whether the issue is oblique or ribs or both. Figuring that out will determine whether he plays Monday in Minnesota.

Just rest him 6 weeks. I don't care. We need him for the playoffs. Mitchell, Mason and TDP need to learn by playing anyhow.

It definitely feels like he's prob going to miss some time. I think we'll be fine in his absence and it does give him a forced break from what's been a super heavy workload.
