to your point, based on the structure and guaranteed money - it's a very team friendly deal that CMC signed. Pretty much if he continues to play at a high level, he keeps making a lot of money. If something happens, we have outs. Plus it's spread over a long period of time to help with the cap.

kudos to our owner Jed for shelling out a lot of signing bonuses over the years, not every owner would do that

Easy way to look at 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey's 2-year extension ...

• Was due $24.2 million the next two years ($12M in '24, $12.2M in '25).

• Now making $32.2 million over that time ($16M in '24, $16.2M in '25).

• His $12.5 million in '26 is basically a team option.

my understanding is Deebo has a $28m cap hit, so CMC in 2 years has the cap hit of Deebo in 1

Agreed. CMC is more important to this offense than Aiyuk which isn't a knock on Brandon as much as it is a complement of CMC and a reflection on the way Shanahan runs his offense. I would prefer to Aiyuk over Deebo but we don't know what's going on behind closed doors. Does Aiyuk even want to be here? How much is he really asking for? I would suggest if he wants Jefferson $$$ he should make that elsewhere. The good news in the market has been set and he should land somwhere in the range of 27-30m.

I'm jazzed that the 49ers have extended CMC, and I still think they can sign Aiyuk. Purdy will be under a rookie contract this year and next year - and they can work on a new Pudy deal next year that minimizes Purdy's cap hit for 2025, by extending that last year of his rookie contract.

I think a big factor in signing CMC was the 49ers getting Armstead's cap savings just recently - and not because the WR market value moved up for Aiyuk.

All I'm saying is I hate people complaining or comparing contracts using APY. At that point you're comparing fake money and complaining about it.

look at the FGTD cash and go from there.

That's because his last two yrs his cap hit was $6.8 and $8.7M. Basically all said and done we most likely have Deebo for one yr at that $20M+ cap hit.
