We have gone back and forth a few times over the years, been on this board for well over a decade my friend
I know you are content with just a good offense, and JWJ is just fine for you. I believe we have an elite defense (when healthy), a mid tier qb and a running game that needs a jolt if we have any expectations of making any noise in the playoffs.
Also I am looking at this season as a whole, not just the falcons game. The falcons game was trash, JWJ was completely ineffective in that game along with our entire run game....Jimmy should have played better, the clock management at the end was trash and the defense was so banged up we couldn't stop anything without the benefit of the Falcons committing offensive penalties.
You reference the OZ as the reason why JWJ has such a low yards after contact, and thats just not the truth.....the numbers are the numbers....we currently rank near the bottom of the league in rushing EPA and thats because we dont have a back that can get it done, not because the blocking is subpar or the qb is terrible. This offense is at its best when it can rip off chunk runs with a back that really threatens the defense.
Then you should know that's how I talk. I never take s**t too seriously in here.
Why is that not the truth? Explain. If your job is to use vision and speed NOT tackle breaking then who cares if you're breaking tackles for a scheme that doesn't totally require that of their RBs. Also if you do want to talk about tackle breaking Mitchell was actually better than CMC. Both are always hurt, who cares.
RB isn't the issue which is my whole damn point. Pretending that it's because you want a flashy name is silly
Yea I know how you post, pretty easy to see when the trigger happens
So what your telling me is an RB should go down after contact quicker in an OZ scheme as opposed to another scheme? Shouldn't an RB try their very best to not go down on any sort of contact lol
The truth is JWJ has one of the worst yards after contact in the league regardless of scheme (many teams also run the OZ), that needs to be better for our offense to function better. So you should care if you want to see a better offense.
The offense has a lot more juice to it when Mitchell is the RB because of his superior skills as a runner and his "yards after contact" but can not be counted on as a bell cow back. So RB is an issue, the numbers clearly show it. Pairing him with an elite back with the skills of CMC would take this offense to another level while reducing the wear and tear on both of them. If one of them goes down for a while you still have the other and JWJ can back them up as the serviceable back up.
We dont agree on this and its ok, I think elite running backs are valuable and you don't.
Hopefully we can get him at a reasonable price (although I dont think we will) and we can see for ourselves if it makes a difference
