We were at a similar crossroads last year too. They found their stride as the season progressed. Hoping for similar results this year too.

I'm interested too see CMC get more acquainted in this offense. He had a few nice runs today and that's with 2 days of preparation. Lets see what he can do after a weeks preparation. Obviously he wouldn't have been a factor today but if we get into the playoffs, that's when it'll matter.

So who should we hire as our new coach? Who do you have in mind?

For every McVay there are about five or six Tomsula's so be careful what you wish for.

They do not have to be from offense side. In fact it's the coordinator on the other side of our fence. Then an OC from someone like the Bills- Mike Shula? And there is that guy that was snooping around our sidelines during camp. A defensive guru for DC-Vic Fangio.

Gameball here to Kittle. 6-98-1. TD was a nice catch. Good work on Nat'l TE day.

Week 1 - Hufanga
Week 2 - JG
Week 3 - Wish
Week 4 - Deebo
Week 5 - Moseley
Week 6 - Aiyuk
Week 7 - Kittle
I'm pretty negative but I still believe. They will right the ship. If we sneak into the playoffs watch out.
Same old Shanahan coached team. Penalties at critical times on offense and defense. Can't make the necessary plays in the red zone. Critical mistakes by Jimmy G. Injuries to key players. And today, a horrible game plan on defense. They seemed completely out of position for most of the game, and got fooled on numerous occasions. I can't believe how many times no one covered or bumped Kelce at the line of scrimmage. I think of an old Bill Walsh quote to sum up the 49ers: "they play just well enough to get you beat." They show flashes that give you hope, only to always make the critical mistake just when they are on the verge of taking the lead or getting back in the game. I really like McCaffery, but this team has bigger problems than RB which Lynch and Shanahan seem unwilling to address. One is the middle of the D-line. With Armstead and Kinlaw out, we don't have the depth to stop the run consistently, or get an inside pass rush. The second is the offensive line. Brendal is a below average center who has killed us with mistakes and penalties in several games. I wish we would have acquired a proven veteran center before the start of the season. McGlinchey is still getting beat on pass protection, and the inexperience at guard (combined with Brendal) is still hurting us. Even Trent Williams looked rusty today. Got beat badly on the Jimmy G. safety. The third problem is the huge drop off at CB with Moseley out. We can't compete against the top QB's in the league right now. Our only hope is that Verrett comes back and plays at this 2020 level.

The great thing about Harbaugh was that he realized pretty quick that Alex Smith wasn't it and benched him the first chance he got. I remember he tried to ship him to Miami in anticipation of signing Manning. Then when he got hurt, he put Kaep in and never looked back.

we should've canned Jimmy this offseason. The hell with where he would have signed. I'm sorry to say he's a cancer for this offense and his play (or lack thereof) is metastasizing to the rest of the team. It's only exacerbated by the lackluster play calling Kyle provides, including his p***y mentality to put up FGs against an offensive juggernaut.so damn frustrating.

Well if Kyle had some better leadership, you wouldn't have players whispering to Mike Silver that they'd be better off with Jimmy.

Stop defending this guy. He's a loser. You look like a fool right now. There's no defending this trash.

Your genius could have had mahommes if he wanted. He didn't even look at him. f**king joke.

Lol so when we win it's all kyle? When the defense dominates its all kyle? I never saw a single post of you saying that when we were winning or the defense was kicking ass.

your takes are so stale man. I will agree today coaching overall was not good. The QB that you constantly supported played like junk as well. If you're gonna win in this league you either need a QB that doesn't need everything perfect around him or a guy that can game manage and not turn the ball over. We have neither right now.

NY like it or not, he is the HC. Buck stops somewhere. We praise him when the team wins and he gets the blame when the team loses.

Why can't the players have any responsibility for their play?

They do and the HC holds them responsible and he does so by composing the roster. Just like you can't say that a CEO isn't responsible for company performance you can't say a HC isn't responsible for his teams performance. I can't think of any coach's fortune that was determined independently of a team's performance as a whole. It's even more so in this case give the GM answers to him essentially.

How can you defend a post that said, "When everything goes wrong it's on Kyle"

and then say the players hold responsibility too.

That's what I don't get.

I get the GM Kyle criticism, I really do, But it's really hard to blame that when we probably have the most pro bowlers in the league. We have a young offensive line that is causing a lot of issues. If that's your criticism I get it. But these players need to execute the damn calls. I don't get the sense that our game plan sucks or that the players aren't motivated to play.

"Remember that time when Bobby Boucher showed up at halftime and the Mud Dogs won the Bourbon Bowl?"

I can't imagine players look at film and think yes, Jimmy is the guy that will lead me to my next big contract. Certainly Aiyuk would not see it that way and I can't believe Kittle with his numbers thinks that.

Embarrassing Loss, the Defense was softer than my expensive toilet paper and Jimmy G with another ridiculous INT before halftime

Said it earlier but the cool guy head type of coach has played its course here. We need a respected boss head coach. Kyle is a good OC and that's it.

Like the guy wearing the M on his hat who came by this week for the 10 yr anniversary?

The ownership doesn't seem to do too well with those type of coaches who aren't PC, kiss up to management, and demands greatness from men.

I was surprised watching the post game locker room interviews and our guys had no "fire". I didn't see anyone that was angry or wanting to get better. The reaction was nonchalant, it is what it is , we need to get better and watch the tape.

When we had true championship teams, the leaders would have player only meetings and demand improvement (Lott, Willis, Rice). This current group counts their checks and they will see you in a few days for meetings.
Overrated squad from the FO all the down to the defense.

Harbaugh was a damn good coach. Sucks Jed felt intimidated by him and cut ties. Look at John Harbaugh in Baltimore. Keeps that team competitive year in and year out. If Jim was coach, lord knows where we would've been…
