Just like last year it depends on Jimmy. If he gets hot in the second half of the season (like last year), and gets hot in the playoffs (like he definitely did NOT do last year, but like ELI did twice), this is a Super Bowl contender.
But if we can't take care of business in México, then f*geddaboutit.

He wasnt the same after he got injured last year i forgot which game it was and it got worse in cowboys game where he hurt his thumb on his throwing hand
Also yes i think Jimmy is a good to great QB but he does have his limitations we have to be more aggressive than we were last game imo too many runs yesterday. I get why that was the game plan going in but i hope that was a chargers specific game plan because thats where they are the weakest. We did not put the offense and Jimmy in a position to succeed yesterday with that many 3rd and long situations

He injured his thumb in the Titans game. He injured his shoulder in either the rams or cowboys game because of his thumb injury. He landed on his shoulder due to not bracing his fall with his injured hand. The thumb injury came when he was being sacked and the defender was pulling thumb back in order to try and strip the ball.

Good win after a slow start to the game. The defense, after giving up an early touchdown, really bailed out the offense and their miscues (Aiyuk fumble, two '3 & outs'). It was a bit frustrating watching the offense look predictable, but they grinded it out and wore down LAC's defense. Eli Mitchell played very well and on a night CMC didn't look very good rushing, it was nice to have Eli handle many of the between the tackles runs. The combination of Eli and CMC has the potential to be the best in the league. Another 0 turnover game from Jimmy, another win - this is the recipe.

We are either going to win this way or not. This team has proven to us this is the way it's going to be. I'm hoping for the best. They really need to get their heads out of their asses in the RZ. Everyone on offense.

I didn't feel like we had that game under control at any point...felt like if they had any decent lead we'd have been cooked.
I think the chargers shot themselves in the foot repeatedly on offense. Drops and missed opportunities kept us in the game.

The Chargers were missing their top 3 or 4 receivers. These aren't just their starters, they're real stud receivers. Take away Deebo, Kittle, Jennings and Aiyuk and how good would the Niners passing offense be? They were a non dimensional team in the second half. No running game or passing game.

I know the Chargers were depleted, but that's the NFL, you play with what you have. I think the defense was playing nasty. The front 4 were harassing Herbert all night.

Okay give LAC their WRs if the 49ers get back AA, Kinlaw, Moseley, and Ebukam.

There's a lot of debate this morning about the targeting call on Greenlaw. Chargers fans see it one way and Niner fans see it another way.
The way I see it is it's a bad rule that was instituted for good reasons. I understand the need to protect players but there needs to be some common sense applied. Players can't just suddenly change direction at the speed they're moving once they make a commitment to tackle a player. In Herbert's case he didn't even slide. I can see a 15 yard penalty if they think it's warranted but ejecting a player when it obviously wasn't an intentional hit to try and injure a player is just wrong. That's where I hate this rulke. It leaves the decision uo to a couple of guys looking at replays who may or may not have a bias. The intention of the rule was to stop spearing, not unintentional contact with the helmet.

I just don't understand what the f**k is happening with all these weapons. It's mind boggling. And what sums Kyle up and puts him in the Kyle box. 6 minutes to go and play to kill the clock. As usual. Chargers have three timeouts. I mean leave them a couple of minutes? Okay it worked but we were up by three frigging points. That mentality is totally fine if you have a larger lead. Then sure kill the clock. But the conservative, vanilla ice, still issues in the red zone, refusal to ever bend from his running plan no matter what is really b******t.
And hate to sound negative after a win. But there ain't much happening in the NFC right now. Never seen so much mediocrity in years in the NFC and at times we feel right there with all the others despite this roster. The roster is first class. It's the penthouse. We should be f**king killing it.

This win almost feels like a loss only because of the super high expectations some of us had coming into it. Destroying the Rams, CMC, extra rest, players coming back, home game, chargers depleted, etc.
Ultimately, the lesson learned is just because the recipe is correct doesn't mean the dish served will taste good.

Chargers despite their injures came to play in the first half(Niners fans should be familiar with this concept) but in the end the more physical and healthy team prevailed . Correctable mistakes on offense and ST kept the score from being more lopsided.
