Who holds this offense back more?
IMO it's Kyle Shanahan. I say that as a BiG TIME Kyle supporter. IMO top 5 coach in the league. I'm also not Jimmy stan. This year I think he's playing better and playing good enough for us to win it all. By no means do I think he's a great QB. I believe he benefits greatly by our supporting cast and coach.
Now that I got the i'm not a Kyle hater or Jimmy Stan out of the way, the reason I feel Kyle is the bigger reason.
We move the ball up and down the field at will. Even with Jimmy G at QB. Our problem usually start once we get inside the redzone. Kyle sometimes gets too cute in the redzone. On the goalline he also keep preferring these counter and misdirection type runs instead of just bully ball. It also appears that we wait until we have to throw in order to throw it down there.
When the run game isn't working, he seems to still keep trying to run play action when no one is biting. Which usually results in immediate pressure and JG having to turn his back on the defense. Which isn't a good combination.
What I would like to see is when the run game isn't working, get out of your normal sets and shifts and go to a more spread and up tempo style. Then work in your runs through those sets. In the redzone, can we get some 1st down pass plays? Can we get creative with pass plays in the redzone.
I understand he likely lacks some trust in JG. I get it. Coming into the season I did as well. Jimmy is playing with nothing to lose this year and IMO is doing some of the things we've been wanting from him. He's not perfect by any means but no QB is. The KC game when we had to throw to try and keep up Jimmy asnwered the bell IMO. It was the defense who couldn't stop anyone. The Rams game JG was nearly perfect. This Chargers game, Jimmy played a clean game. Nothing great but executed what was there IMO.
If Jimmy continues to play with nothing to lose I honestly think Jimmy will be our best option in this SB window we are in. He's throwing outside of the hashes. Only trails Tua and Hurts amongst QBs in yards/a. Not turning the ball over. We are seeing the best version of Jimmy IMO. We need Kyle to starting trusting him more.

I still think if Aiyuk catches that TD we would've had the chance to run the score up.
The Packers run the same system and they suck. At their absolute best they were easy work for us in the playoffs.

This is such a tired argument. People act like you cant be happy and concerned at the same time. That offense we witnessed yesterday aint going anywhere in the playoffs. That offense yesterday was pathetic considering the allstar talent we have.
With that said, were above .500 and imm f**king juiced to be in mexico next week to watch the niners!
See...excitement and concern...not a difficult concept.

I voted Jimmy and it's not even close. With all these weapons it would be hard for any coach to mess it up if the QB was elite. At the end of the day it's the players job to execute and nobody touches the ball more than the QB. Jimmy is just not good enough to move the ball down the field drive after drive. He will have a couple of decent drives and a few good passes and then follow it up with some bad drives and bad passes. And because of this it's hard to have an explosive offense that scores at will. Jimmy is a decent QB but he is not an elite QB. So how are you expected to have an elite offense?

If that was a playoff game and win, no one would be complaining and no one should be complaining. See the point? Go watch the GB game again last season, where was the offense? JIMMY G IS STILL AT QB1, WHAT MORE CAN YOU PRODUCE (regardless how many weapons you have)? Be happy he was 68, like finding a mismatched and open Jennings 4x, last night instead of 45-55 bonehead Jimmy 🤣

How was it pathetic? We moved the ball. If Aiyuk catches that ball and we make the missed XP that puts us at 27. Which would have been enough to win this past NFCCG and the Superbowl.
Do we have stuff to clean up in the redzone? We sure do.

I'm perfectly fine with concern and excitement - that's exactly how I feel. If you feel there's equal concern AND excitement in this thread.....more power to ya. Do you really feel like those two things are even a 80/20 spread?

I believe the current poll numbers, 53% JG, 47& KS are pretty accurate.
To some extent, the perception of the offense is driven by fantasy numbers and the league bias for passing over running. Kyle clearly, CLEARLY, prefers to run the ball and that limits the scoring. Even when they are winning, a running team is not going to score as much as a winning passing team. Consequently, when the opponent limits the run game, it is going to be seen as an offensive failure even though the team wins...as per yesterday.

Shanahan needed to go for it on the first drive on 4th down and give his defense a vote of confidence.
1st drive of the game for your O and you essentially show no confidence in your O to get the points or your D to stop them if you turn it over on downs.
Shanahan is on a different level than that of some other coaches.
With Andy Reid we would score 50+ regardless what our opposition is doing.
Shanahan is afraid to keep his foot on the gas. Clearly hasn't learned from his mistakes.

Then why isn't he scoring 50+ with Pat Mahomes?

Red zone TD pct is not on JG
Kyle's playcalling has been annoying
no killer instinct same goofy runs up the middle on first down when we were leading by 3 points than six.
once again our defense won the game for us
guess who I voted for
