Who holds this offense back more?

It was positively awful. Nothing less.

For clarity, I'm not talking about going for it at 4th and 7. I'm factoring that they successfully got the Hawks to jump making it a 4th and 2.

You have an elite offense everywhere besides QB, and your QB is at 100 percent completion for the game. The Seahawks have a bad defense and a two score lead puts them on the ropes against your elite defense. You're 2 yards away from a first down and about 10 yards away from a field goal attempt at worst.

You punt the ball, and with the 5 yard penalty on the punt it nets you 15 yards of field position. Absolutely ridiculous. Willingly gave away momentum. If Dre Greenlaw doesn't smash Homer and cause a fumble, it might have been a 7-6 or 7-3 game at halftime.

You couple that kind of decision making with a horrendous call from the refs that takes away another 7, and you put yourself in position to be in a close game you dominated the entire time.

This kind of thing cannot happen in a playoff game.

You and I obviously have two different definitions for the word awful.

Lol, I use the word as its defined: very bad.
The answer to this question is and always has been beyond obvious. I'm willing to bet certain people still don't see it though

Very bad or awful would be calling a playaction or a long developing pass play from your own goal line. Deciding to punt it on 4th and 2 in a hostile environment when you have the #1 defense in almost every meaningful category isn't awful in my book.

More than one thing can be very bad. Not going to go back and forth over what term you want to use to describe it. You described it as puzzling... I'm sure for the exact reasons I cited in my last reply.

no need to be that desperate in the 1st/2nd qtr when the defense has been playing lights out

Then stop going back and forth. I told you our definition of awful were different. The conversation could have ended with that.
It was always Jimmy holding us back for anyone with any real football sense.

Lol Purdy basically has an average Jimmy game and he's suddenly the greatest. Crazy how one guys Jimmy performance is great yet the other guys is holding the team back.

And before anyone says that Jimmy is a vet, I think Purdy is playing pretty damn well regardless of his experience.

Not sure how anyone would describe going for it in that situation as desperate. I would argue it's not even overly aggressive. It's just the right call given the field position, down and distance, and opponent. You're not putting your defense in some untenable position if the other team takes the ball over at their 40 yard line, and you're not altering their chances of driving significantly if they take it over at the 25 instead. 15, well exactly 17, yards.

No reason to get weird, guy. First of all, there's an actual definition of awful. Whether you want to apply it or not is really beside the point, as I can easily agree with you that it was a puzzling decision. Baffling... inexplainable.

After watching Brock, how can you not say it was Jimmy ? Do you think Jimmy hits Kittle for the wide open pass for a TD in the second half yesterday ? Does he hit Kroft in stride in the 4th quarter ? Does he pick up the 3rd and one with his legs ? Does he not walk out of the end zone for a safety when we were pinned deep instead of finding JJ on the 3rd and 7 ?

Comeon now, let's be real with ourselves…

I agree with everything you been saying on that play. Word semantics 😂 we can call it dumb if that makes people feel better; especially with our punter not doing much with it anyway

I would bet money that everyone on this board will never see a play like that again where the self imposed safety was better then the self imposed pick six from a QB on one play

That s**t is butt fumble legendary
