Who holds this offense back more?

What if this is what is supposed to be?

we get conditioned to think gaudy #s like Mahomes, Allen etc - But Kyle never said that is what the goal is.

Numbers are numbers. Kyle's never going to be a pass first, pass heavy, offense but it's not a secret that the QB position has limited our ability to attack a defense. That's why we used a ton of assets to try and improve at the position. Prior to Purdy's emergence a few weeks back, the attempt hadn't been successful, and was counterproductive. Hopefully the kid keeps it up and continues to get better, because he solves potential* major looming problems at the position.

All this dumb s**t arguing over a punt on 4th and 2 early in the game is what is really awful. Another thing that is awful is a 7th round rookie QB looking better than an 8 year vet that has 5 years of experience in this system.

This poll needs to be started all over again, since folks can't go back and change their answer.

It is obvious now. Kyle even admits it himself.

Certainly awful for some posters on this board who wanted so badly the narrative to be true that Kyle limited Jimmy and he's the problem. Some still want to push it even now.

For the rest of us who love watching Purdy and the offense succeed it's freaking sweet.

It's been an amazing season so far and it's only getting more exciting/interesting. Feels a bit like 2012, which was a top two York era season in my mind.
Guess we go our answer on this one pretty soundly!
It's our kicker holding us back. Jk..
it's been him all along. He was the problem. Number 10. Jimmy G.

Seems obvious
Absolute insanity that 50% of posters here at one point voted Kyle.

Outcoached and outschemed Pete Carroll in his own stadium and made him look like a washed up old man.

Even Jim Harbaugh couldn't do this

Yeah pretty surprising. I know some folks don't like Kyle's coaching but 45% thinking he was the bottleneck of the offense is too damn high.

Well, that's partly correct. Jimmy is the obvious answer, especially after watching Brock. But there's no denying that Shanahan playing a "no balls" offensive scheme did and still does hold us back. Now with Brock it's a little more subtle because the quarterback is doing a fine job of executing the offense. But glaring decisions including a punt on 4th and 2, a couple of 4th down decisions vs the Dolphins which kept them in the game as well until the 4th quarter. These things can come back and bite you when you're playing in the postseason. He needs to get out of his shell and play aggressive, especially when the offensive is firing on all cylinders and you're deep in your opponent's territory. You can afford to take these chances when you have a stout defense that can hold its own.

With Jimmy, it was more glaring bc the QB was deficient. So for example it Jimmy was playing this past weekend I highly doubt he hits Kittle twice for deep TDs. Instead of 21-6 now the game is more like 17-6 and the dynamics of the game change, including Kyle being even more conservative in the 4th and trying to sit on 17 points. What do you think the play calling would have been like when we were pinned deep at the one yard line ? With Brock it was incomplete, run, complete pass on 3rd for a first. With Jimmy I guarantee run, run, short of the sticks pass (likely incomplete) then punt without burning clock. (Or a safety by running out of his own end zone).

gotta put some blame on Shanny for being ultra conservative….

I never understood the poll. Both have their known strengths and weaknesses. Both are conservative.

Kyle is the Jimmy of HC's...moments where he's coaching at the top of his peers but struggles to close things out esp. when the pressure is on.

As an OC, Kyle is in the upper tier of his peers. Jimmy is not.
