My top 5 active HC's would be:

Bill Belichick
Andy Reid
John Harbaugh
Kyle Shanahan
Sean Mcvay.

Good list. I could see Carroll bring in there, even though I can't stand the guy

I would put Carroll ahead of McVay just based on longevity. He has kept Seattle competitive through a lot of player turnover. McVay inherited a lot of talent and won. Let's see him build/retool a time or two before we anoint him.

I would put carrol over mcvay due to this season alone. He's doing a hell of a job with that roster, and I agree with you, mcvay was handed a loaded roaster and is bombing now that the talent isn't there

Some of those HC picks are based on nostalgia

Reid and BB needs a superstar QB

Bill took the Pats to the playoffs last year with a rookie Mac Jones and very little talent on offense. Not fantastic talent on defense either. He also took the Pats to an 11-5 record with a QB who hadn't taken a snap since high school. Not to mention the fact that Tom Brady wasn't anywhere near a superstar in 2001 for example. Bill's defense was the strength of their first 3 titles.

Andy Reid made playoffs year after year with Donovan McNabb, and Alex Smith... and one year with an aged Michael Vick.

Putting these two guys anywhere outside of the top of the list would be really foolish. They have done it all. Having elite QBs just make it that much worse for everyone else.

Has his balls fully dropped? 4th and 2.

Analytics say Outside zone runs across the league are less effective this year. Defenses are defending it better, so it's not a surprise we took a step back, because that's been our bread and butter. It took us a bit to adjust.

And even with that, we're 9th in the league, with the top teams ahead of us having the benefit of running QB's in the run game (Fields, Hurts, Mariota, Jackson, Allen, Jones)

Meanwhile, the other playcallers with the same/similar offensive system aren't faring as well: Packers are #13, Jets are 21st, Dolphins are 29th, and Rams are 30th.

Hate to say it, but BB aint that guy. Lived in CT my whole life, unfortunately lol. He has very little offensive sense at all. He has D coordinators calling his plays. Offense was mediocre to below average without Brady. Even with Brady heroics, and NFL bias, the pats D was their horse for a majority of their dynasty. He is a great d coordinator, but other than that…
Neither of them now!

He has a D coordinator calling his offense this season. How about the past 20 + years, lol? Most NFL coaches specialize in one side or the other. We love Kyle, and he's a great offensive mind, but our D is the strength of the team so far during his tenure. He still gets credit.

There's a lot of crazy s**t posted on this board. Arguing Bill Belicheck isn't a top HC would be on the short list of the absolute worst.

He needs a star qb and like I said it's based on nostalgia.

as of today BB isn't a top who would be taken over Kyle

I responded directly to your post. It's a couple posts above this one.

Absolute insanity that 50% of posters here at one point voted Kyle.

Outcoached and outschemed Pete Carroll in his own stadium and made him look like a washed up old man.

Even Jim Harbaugh couldn't do this

I never understood the poll. Both have their known strengths and weaknesses. Both are conservative.

Kyle is the Jimmy of HC's...moments where he's coaching at the top of his peers but struggles to close things out esp. when the pressure is on.

As an OC, Kyle is in the upper tier of his peers. Jimmy is not.

You think Kyle is an elite HC already?
I'm laughing at this notion jimmy is the KS of QBs. Good s**t
Also getting a kick out of you continually blaming everyone but jimmy fir that SB loss. OL, Ward, Saleh, , Kyle etc

In their weaknesses for sure. Conservative and clam up when the pressure is high. Prone to make boneheaded mistakes. Super slow starts to the season. Has to have their backs against the wall before gearing up.

As to the second point, the answer is yes...all of the above.

Ha. TBH not sure why I was surprised. You also said McDaniels was the real brains behind the operation and Kyle has no balls, amongst many other things. Those 2 were gems though lol

Well, he was the run game and RZ designer when we were #1 in both last year. Not so much this year. Coincidence?

Fat Andy wins one SB in my lifetime and he is a goat we are supposed to fear?

We aren't talking all time. We are speaking among active coaches.

Mike McGlinchey

McGlinchy sucks but honestly Brendel is a bigger problem IMO. He blows line calls left and right.
