Who holds this offense back more?

Today, we held the ball for 37 minutes, had 387 yards of total offense (the 3rd and 4th ranked offenses in the league average 391 yards per game), and converted 9 of 17 on third down. That's still a pretty productive day.

Given the context of the game, the production was horrible.

Had Aiyuk not dropped a TD pass after obliterating his defender with a beautiful route (and fumbled in our own territory), this game could've had a prettier point differential.

I understand the concern that our offense isn't blowing people out with the talent we have, but I'm not too worried… YET. Shanahan's offenses with the 49ers historically seem to get better as the season goes on. I expect that to be the case this year as well. Today's effort alone will beat lesser teams and get us into the playoffs. But if we want to really be a force on offense, we need to show we can hit more explosive catch and run plays in the passing game. If we can do that, I'll be very excited to see what this offense is by the end of the season.

It feels like we experimented with RPO's to Deebo/CMC. I think they'll work and we actually hit a couple nice plays with them. Still a work-in-progress, but I see the routes they're exploring in expanding the offense.

I've never seen this place lose their mind like this over a win

Steve Young was right, only Niners fans could blame the backup QB for not dominating the league.

How people are justifying a barely squeaked out win against the second string chargers is insane to me. This offensive performance should have lost the game. And it's because kyle decided he was gonna run the ball 90 times before the game started and did nothing to derail from that.

where is kittle on a seam? Where is Samuel besides a badly failing, obvious backfield decoy now?

Same problem we always had, settling for 3 instead of 7. Convert Robbie's 3 FG into TDs and we get another 12 points and the game is a blowout by halftime.

They both feed off each other. Idleness is fatal only to the mediocre. And both these guys exemplify mediocrity at its finest. They restrict a stacked offensive unit and it will cost us dearly when it counts. They both need to leave.

Seriously? Anyone calling Shanahan mediocrity is not worth debating with.

He's not a mediocre offensive play caller. But definitely a mediocre coach.

How do we vote for both?

It's squarely on both guys.
Oh surprise, a thread that will turn in to a JG whine show.

What's holding the offense back? Continuity.

JG wasn't supposed to be the QB this year, CMC wasn't supposed to the RB1 this year.

People underestimate the amount of constant reps it takes for our run game to click. There's an insane amount of detail in the run game and we completely changed out our IOL who worked on runs based out of qb read looks, all off-season and TC.

Then, Mitchell went down and TL went down. It completely changed the plan for the first half of the season. We haven't been a good run team. We just haven't. Can't say it's JG since our running EPA is the lowest its been with him.

The offense is being rebuilt on the fly. Kittle missed time, deebo missed time, Trent missed time. We've also been near the top of the league in drops. As long as they get it together by mid December, we'll be in a great spot.

Peak at the right time.

Maybe I'm going crazy (more than I already am)… but I think this is important to know the current state of the webzone on this question.

We have all this offensive talent and haven't put up a lot of points. So I ask you, who holds this offense back more? Jimmy or Kyle.

Ah, the webzone. The brightest and most reasonable minds in 49er fandom 😂
