we actually clinch the #3 seed with a win this thursday too with us now owning the tiebreaker against the Bucs

You might be forgetting about the Cowboys.

Eagles - 12 wins

Vikings - 10 wins

Cowboys - 10 Wins

49ers - 9 wins

Eagles and Cowboys can't both be in the top 4 (Division seeds). One has to be a wildcard.

Ahh thats right. I was just looking at the wins.

Exactly. You can't just look at wins. If the Eagles win the Cowboys are the Wild Card. Because they didn't win their division. We get them at home. No matter how many wins.

if we are at the point we clinch the #3 seed (win on thursday) there might be a serious discussion of sitting out starters for ROS. We are only 1 game from #2 seed though so it really will depend on Vikings but looking at their schedule its hard to find where they lose a game

i dont see them losing to Colts Packers or bears they may lose to giants

I think it's valid to rest starters or give them a pitch count in the last game of the season.
Not sure about putting them on ice for multiple games though (unless it's a player that's just banged up).

I thiiiiink it was the 2005 Colts who rested starters in the last two games of the season? I'm not sure who it was, but they rested two games + had the bye during wild card week. Came out slow, got punched in the mouth by their Divisional opponent and were bounced in their first game of the playoffs.

I could see a real argument for continuing to get Purdy full speed "real" NFL snaps with the starting playmakers at the risk of injury. I don't know... some tough calls to be made. I would for sure double stamp a week 18 manufactured bye week though.

I could totally see the Vikings losing. We are in play for the #2 seed. I have no doubt. They aren't as good as their record IMO. That #2 seed would be awesome. But we probably have to win out to get it.

i agree that Vikings are not as good as their record i will say Justin Jefferson does scare me though no matter how good our D is he might actually be the best plater in the NFL right now

I also agree #2 seed is in play but the Colts and Bears are maybe 2 of the worst 5 teams in the NFL. I think we do have to win out as well cause i dont see the Vikings losing 2 of those games. But as said earlier we have the tie breaker so we only need them to lose 1 game if we win out
If we beat the Seahawks, we basically almost eliminate them from the playoffs due to them having to play KC(most likely a loss),Jets,Rams after us.
If we keep playing the same, we might be one the first team to host a Monday Night playoff game

I would not want that. Only because that means less rest days if the 49ers win.

Vikings are guaranteed to lose one of their last three, especially when they have to travel to Lambeau vs GB. The question is if we finish with the same record who gets the tie breaker?

I rather play on Saturday also, but the NFL wants viewers and if we're still hot…. We're must see tv

This is true.

We have the better conference record if we're tied

Doubtful considering the team plays on the West Coast. You'd have to guarantee that if we won, we'd have to be slotted for the last game on Sunday night Divisional rounds. I think the nfl has more flexibility with an east coast team…

Then you go all out and try to secure the 2nd seed. We have a good shot at winning the rest of the games…

MIN ends with outdoor January games in GB and CHI. Something something about a dome team (MIN) in the cold elements. Go for #2.
