Would you trade Jimmy G right now for the picks that it took to move up to get Trey Lance?

and no playoff run? no.

The real question is would you trade Lance for those 2 firsts. Much more interesting question.

Even more interesting, as we sit here today who would fetch the bigger haul, Trey or Jimmy? 🤔

Not a good question to ask after the guy posted 4 TD passes against Arizona. Pose this question after the Denver game and I'm sure the poll results would be flipped.

point being….Jimmy's biggest drawback is his inconsistency. It's what cost us the 2019 Superbowl and the 2021 NFCC game. He played good enough for 3 quarters and then an epic collapse where he can't even get a first down to seal the win.

Im glad he's on a roll. But history shows that Jimmy will fall from the heavens and fall down to earth pretty damn hard at some point.

Jimmy gave our defense a 4th quarter lead against the Chiefs, and they choked it away. Also, if Tartt catches that interception, Jimmy is in a second superbowl against a team we already beat once last year, even though he had injuriesto his throwing shoulder and hand. To blame him solely for either of those losses is just flat out short sighted, and frankly, ignorant.

But it's objective to blame the defense solely?

This post is written by a guy who created a poll listing JG as the sole player 'holding us back'.

Ouch... the fact that I don't know for sure is sad
Not at this point, it's full steam ahead
Assuming you could actually trade right now, this is a terrible proposition.
I love that handsome b*****d. But hell yeah I would.

It would be foolish not to. The odds of jimmy winning it all are very very low
I wonder if any of the GM's that had a chance to get him before Trey went down regret not pulling the trigger?

I was shocked.

A healthy jimmy G can't put perform brissett or mayfield? That's why they have a dumpster fire season.

I do understand that they believes he would be released though. So they waited
Stupid thread.

Why would you trade Jimmy now (when you have no one else better and/or healthy atm)?
And no one will trade even a 1st or 2nd for Jimmy even if he is playing well with all these weapons on offense and KS playcalling, plus it's too late in the season and he's going to be a FA after this season. His track record, limitations, age and injury history are all known to all GMs, why no other team wanted him in the off season, they will wait for him when the season is over when he becomes a FA and then bid for him (price wise) depending on how well he plays and how far he goes and leads in the playoffs as QB1, he'll probably get either a max 2-3 year deal or a 1 year prove it deal somewhere else that needs a QB upgrade depending on how well he CONTINUES TO PERFORM THE REST OF THE SEASON, THIS IS EXACTLY WHY LYNCH AND KS WAITING IT OUT IN THE OFF SEASON AND NO OTHER TEAM WANTED TO TRADE FOR JIMMY AND HE WAS FORCED TO COME BACK AND TAKE A BIG PAY CUT TO BE THE BACKUP ON A INCENTIVE-LADEN DEAL WAS THE SMARTEST MOVE THE 9ERS COULD HAVE MADE, IT WAS GENIUS ON LYNCH AND KS 👏 👏 👏 👏

AS THE FO/GM/HC of ANY NFL TEAM, YOU SHOULD ALWAYS BE LOOKING OUT FOR THE BEST INTEREST OF YOUR TEAM AS A WHOLE AND FOR THE SHORT TERM AND MORE IMPORTANTLY LONG TERM FUTURE, ELSE YOU SHOULD BE FIRED FOR NOT DOING YOUR JOB.

There's something about the way your write that makes me think you really believe in what you're saying, especially towards the bottom.

Some contradictory ideas in there, though….. underlined vs bolded 👍🏻

Imagine if we never traded up for Tray Lance:

  • 2021 - Micah Parsons (could have been enough to push us to the SB)
  • 2022 - We could have used our very late 1st rounder and traded for CMC at the beginning of the year

Hey yo say wut???

With the cap we would have needed to extend Jimmy we would most likely lose Deebo, Bosa and Aiyuk.
