This may actually be the "trap game" that fans love to say every week. Hope they aren't looking ahead to Miami.

they probably are not because this game is more important than Miami

49ers already had their trap game of the season at Atlanta. I could've sworn they were favored by 9-10 but s**t the bed.

It wasnt a trap game...it was a snake bit game

A majority of defensive starters were injured and missed that game

As a result ATL ran their power game down our throat and our 2s and 3s on the DL couldnt stop them

A regular 49er team smokes ATL

yup our whole starting DL as out including Bosa

and everyone as dropping passes left center and right that game

So much this, it's funny how people either don't remember or don't care to say what the reality was to prove their point.

We were allowing 65 yards rushing per game and magically once our whole defense was out it's 180 yards. We also out gained them in yardage by 60 yards so it wasn't a trap game just an injured game.

Just saying as a gambler's view it was a trap game. 49ers were heavily favored and majority of the media picked the 9ers to win. 49ers weren't snake bit until they played Atlanta, the 49ers were coming off a blowout win in Carolina, not to mention coming out healthy from that game too.

We lost Mosely in that panthers game. That was a huge blow to our secondary.

True but that didn't tilt the odds at all, the 49ers were still heavily favored.

Just stating that we did not come out healthy from that game too, like you said.

But even though you corrected me, thats not the point being made.

So you don't think losing Mosely in the panthers game affected our run defense at all in the ATL game? Mosely grades pretty high in run defense and is a damn good tackler.

Mosley was a huge loss for us. C. Ward & Mosley made a top notch tandem. Major loss for us

Again, Mosely injured didn't hurt the odds at all. I'm beginning to think some of you don't understand what a trap is.

i dont think you do

a trap game isnt based on vegas odds its did the 49ers as a team look over an opponent

our entire DL was injured that game and that's not a good recipe when you play a power running team. Also remember guys like Trent Williams were out too

we were just injured and the oddsmakers and betters were not paying attention

Yea. Well I guess vegas underestimated how important Mosely was to our defense. The idea of a trap game is an illusion. A term made up to explain why superior teams sometimes lose to inferior teams. The NFL is a game of matchups. Some teams matchup better than others and injuries play a huge role in those matchups.
Lots of variability in games in the NFL with turnover differential being a major point. Wilson's fumble and return for 6 points put us in a 14 pt hole against the inferior Falcons. Playing at home is definitely an advantage for inferior teams as well.

No excuses now for the Saints. Score early and get the ball into the hands of our weapons quickly. Last game, Jimmy G had his best game of the season primarily due to not forcing balls into tight windows and getting it out of his hands into the hands of CMC, Deebo, Kittle as well as two great TD passes to Aiyuk.

Defense needs to stop Kamara and make sure to gets sacks/ints against Dalton.
Imagine losing to Andy Dalton

Saints are tied for 4th most sacks in the league and only blitz 20% of the time. So they are getting home with their front consistently. They only give up an average of 195 ypg through the air while facing some of the top passing offenses in the league this season. Chances are they will come out looking to shut our run game down early. Should we pass to set up the run or run to set up the pass in this game?

Pass to set up the run like we did against Arizona on Monday night. Let the playmakers make plays!

As long as our receivers are getting open and Jimmy isn't holding the ball too long, that gameplan should work well.

A trap game isn't based on Vegas odds, what!!! Then why does the media (ESPN-NFLN) and every sports station list NFL odds next to each game.

Lol do you think the players say to each other, oh know this might be a trap game for us. Smh

And you're talking past tense, things that happened in the game. I'm talking about the team pre-tense when they were favored.

How did Vegas underestimate?? The 49ers are on a three game winning streak without him. And yes the idea of a trap game is an illusion, at least to the players and coaches it should be. The term trap game is mostly used by fans, media and gamblers.
I wanna see Hiney Badger get run over.

That's what im saying i dont think you understand

a trap game would be a team not preparing enough for a team because the team thinks they are easy to beat so they come off unprepared.

The Vegas odds are designed so 50% of bettors bet for eah side many people betting didnt know about a lot of our injuries.

it takes time to adjust to a starter missing the season. It isnt just a plug and play situation.

Some folks just cannot wrap their head around that.
