SF 49ERS vs Dolphins Pregame Thread - 2022 Season Week 13

The key, as with any Jimmy led offense, is long sustained drives, a healthy running game, and time of possession. Critical 3rd down conversions are a must Don't let the Dolphins get into a rhythm. Whatever we do, don't get into a shootout. That's not what this team does.

i mean we have one of the best sustain drive rate in NFL right now last i checked we were top 3 or 4 in NFL in yards/drive

Edit: we are 3rd in yards/drive behind KC and Buffalo respectively and for those curious we are 5th in points/drive as well

totally understand...

yet against these high powered teams (ie:chiefs) that formula gets challenged.

Even yesterday was way harder than it needed to be with a sputtering offense.

i edited my post i read the wrong stat just wanted to make sure for accuracy. I agree about yesterday i think the OL had some issues which prevented us from being super aggressive. Jimmy was being hit a lot and if he gets injured our season is toast I think the short week after the international trip kind of hurt us because as an OL i think that was the worst game of the season.

Will be interesting against Miami who has an average D at best. And i agree we have to put up more TD. Our biggest weakness as a season is red zone TD % is at league average although its been better since CMC it has to be improved ideally to last years levels

The Dolphins are a good team in a good spot in their division. They have some important games coming up. Neither they nor the Niners "need" this win as it is out of conference. I say light them up early on Defense and see how important this game is to them.

Their receivers are so fast that you can't give them too big a cushion. If you give them too much space they can run away from our defenders. This is the fastest pair of receivers in history. Nobody is having much luck slowing them down so if the Niners can it will be a real accomplishment.

If you don't give them enough of a cushion and they blow right by our corners, they will make quick work of us. Pick your poison with speed like that. I would rather give them the underneath stuff than to allow them to blow the top off of our defense.

You need to disrupt their pass pattern with guys that fast. If you let them get off the line too easily they run by you. If you let them catch the ball in front with too much space they run away from you. Somehow they need to slow them off the line and clog up the lanes to deny them the ball.

Theyll do what we do when Trent is hurt: short, quick pass game, tons of RPOs. I'd be surprised if we get to tua a lot but that will be at the cost of neutering some of the danger with their offense

It's gonna be fun. Mike McDaniel and Demeco Ryans are going to be having a chess match. McDaniel has so much familiarity, being here for the last couple years... Demeco's going to have to mix it up really well.

MIA presents a challenge in that they can attack zones with their RPO game, and if the 49ers start to man up like they did versus KC (to combat RPOs), then MIA has WRs that can punish man coverage. I think the defensive gameplan should be to mix it up and be unpredictable.

Opening line is 49ers -4.5 but has gone down to -3.5 according to Caesar sportsbook.

Plenty of bulletin board material given by the idiots that left us. For an out of conference foe our guys should not be lacking for motivation in this one

Dude basically insinuated we don't have a QB that Dolphins are more talented and that we somehow did these undrafteds some kind of slight

One of them (Mostert) even purposely took a season ending surgery this leaving us at seasons end with a rookie and Deebo at RB and this was after he'd held out for increased pay while still under contract

Mostert admitted he made a business decision at the cost of our season in order to protect his own free agency upcoming. Of course the team was pissed because they paid him more to produce in 2021 after he'd asked for it. He then chose to opt for season ending surgery and not produce for anyone but himself.

It was his right as a player but you can't get mad at the team for not being happy with you making your decision after you'd asked them to break contract and reward you right prior to that season!

Should be a good hard fought game

You are absolutely right. Lets play press man coverage and hope we can jam them long enough to allow our pass rush (Bosa) to get home on every play.

Both HC know the other well, I think this will be a low scoring game.
