If only folks were more informed. The saints are 4-7 because of their offense. Not because of their defense.

Great work, as always! What are your thoughts on the redzone offense lacking creativity? I watch a lot of NFL Redzone, so I see a lot of creative play calling around the league leading to scores. I feel like Kyle has mostly just relied on talent and scheme, and the execution has been lacking. I'm hopeful that he is holding things back for games that matter more.
EDIT:
I'd also like to know how the execution should have looked on that Deebo run that was blown up.

Our biggest issue in the redzone is that the run game hasn't been affective. We are averaging 2.6 YPC and have only scored 5 rushing TD's with our RB's this season.

Yeah, execution has been poor, but we seem to run the same 2-3 run plays inside the 10 every time. Nothing outside the tackles, we just keep running straight into walls over and over.
We keep running inside as if it's a strength, when it hasn't been at all.

I am pretty sure that JD showed an outside run in his video that got stuffed inside the 20. Our run game in general has been lackluster. Especially with CMC. We need to just stop running him up the gut. It is almost a guaranteed negative play.
It sucks now that we lost Mitchell once again because he was averaging over 5.0 YPC when given the opportunity. Hopefully Mason can be that guy with what we saw at the end of the saints game. Hopefully he gets his shot this Sunday.

I just watched last weeks breakdown about our oline and it reminded me just how much we need a solid center. The center position in this offense is so important to our whole scheme. And we have a below average one :/

Yes. I have seen Brendel whiff on quite a few of his run blocking assignments this season. Or he just gets out muscled.

Just looking at goal to go situations, it looks like we've ran 32 times.
29 times inside: 1.2 ypc, 4 TDs
3 times outside: 3 ypc, 2 TDs
Inside the redzone:
47 inside runs: 2 ypc, 4 TDs, 8 losses, 26 gains under 4 yards
9 outside runs: 4 ypc, 2 TDs, 2 losses, 1 gain under 4 yards
Note: These are just basic directional rushing stats.

I didn't include Jimmy's rushing TD in my post. But yes, the redzone run game has been rather underwhelming this season.

Your video's are always so informative. They really do provide great insight into why the game played out the way it did. I thought the clip on the end run where Trent Williams and Brandon Aiyuk got their signals crossed was particularly interesting as it appeared that, if Aiyuk had been able to get to his man, they probably would have scored on that play. Sad though that the usual suspects are always in here harping about how you didn't dwell on any of Jimmy's "bad" plays so that they can justify their low opinion of him. I always find that your videos are pretty well balanced in that regard and I have no doubt that whenever Lance takes over you will bring the same standards to his performance as you do to Jimmy's. Keep up the good work. Your time and effort is always appreciated. Go Niners!

Are you saying that Jennings should've run a better route and Garoppolo threw behind Jennings instead of leading him to the pylon because he missed the offseason?
To me it seems totally obvious that Garoppolo simply threw behind his target. End of story. No need for deep analysis.
You're editing it to say those things. They weren't related.

Thank you for the explanation on that play. What you stated is pretty much exactly what Thl said. Apparently, he isn't a reputable source on this site so they waited patiently to ask you about it.
Whose hating on my guy THL? Back in the day this thread was JD and THL tag teaming a bunch of screenshots of the breakdowns. THL concept knowledge is pretty spot on, like JD. I would bet these breakdown threads are the better than any other teams message board. Nice job as always JD, keep up the good work. Gonna be a fun game this Sunday
I cannot remember who it was. But during the discussion of that play thl explained why it was a good pre snap read because the saints were in man coverage. Someone there after stated that they would wait for a reputable source to give their explanation. As if thl is not a reputable source.
Proyally wasn't a reputable source because it didn't tell them what they wanted to hear

The past two weeks could be a reason for some of the lapses in concentration and sloppiness. Traveling from CA to Denver to Mexico, coming home and dealing with Thanksgiving at home - good on them to grind out a win.
The play where Aiyuk missed the crackback. I think that's an adjustment by NO. When Trent pulls, the DE let's Trent pull and doesn't try to maintain the edge - he attacks the inside shoulder to blow up the play. Had the DE tried to maintain the edge, he gets cracked. Risky adjustment because if the DE misses Deebo, there's a convoy of blockers, but I think that was a schemed adjustment to blow up that play. Perhaps seeing Deebo in a split backfield tipped them off. Kind of eye opening to see CMC asked to lead block. Deebo also is asked to lead block on some plays. Not typical asking your star playmakers to lead block.
Nice highlighting of that Greenlaw pass defended versus the slot WR. That play was very well covered on both sides of the field. With all the Palms coverage (to get 4v3 and 3v2 to each side of the field) going on, offenses are starting to, and will more often start lining up 4x1 to overload one side of the field. KC is doing this and it's working, copycat league.
I'm voting for the next video to be about Ryans' defense. Perhaps highlight any differences between last year and this. One difference I've seen is more use of five man fronts versus run teams/downs. The wide9 has been pretty rigged the past few seasons with them always being in a four man front. Great video once again, jd.

Great job as always, JD!
I learned a lot from thl, who is a monster too, waiting for the offseason coverages and concepts revamped post
