I refuse to quit on this team and believe that the season is over, it's not. The players sure won't give up. #1 defense, clutch kicker and a strong running game can carry a team far. Why can't this be us?

And i've always said once the playoffs start you can throw the records out the window but trying to win with your 3rd string QB is impossible. No team has ever done it and i can only think of 1 team to win it with their backup which was the Redskins w/ Doug Williams.
Regardless i will still be watching every game and rooting for this team. Maybe we can get lucky and knock a team out of the playoffs.
We weren't gonna win it all with Jimmy either imo.
You don't know that. He did give us our best chance but now we will never know.

Jimmy's played pretty badly in the playoffs tho.
He's never done much that time of the year anyway. Just sayin....

Nick Foles? How about Jeff Hostetler?

Life support because every team down the stretch has a better qb than us.

I believe we still make the playoffs. So our season isn't over. Now for our SB chances, it just went out the window.

Great job naming 2 to 3 events. This doesn't tell me how ANYONE played though.

No, but unfortunately the odds of us winning the Super Bowl have declined by losing JG for the rest of the season. I don't blame anybody, it's just really bad luck. As we know the FO went out and got Trey Lance because JG was not available in the past to play enough as he was injured a lot, but then this year Trey beat him to the punch and got injured first, go figure. At least the FO had the foresight to have JG available in the first place. Purdy is a gamer, and if he has as much " dog " in him as Bosa says then we still have chance to win some big games the rest of the season. Unfortunately, there's some very good teams that still have some of the leagues best QBs starting for them and playing exceptionally well and have dang good defense's also, (KC,Philly, Dallas, MInn…etc). It's gonna be a difficult gauntlet to get by these teams. In short, I woke up feeling a lot worse about losing JG than yesterday.

You noticed how I said IMO. Sure he gave this team with Brock as our other QB our best shot.

It will carry us to the playoffs. We couldn't win the SB with JimmyG as our quarterback and he's an upgrade over Purdy. You'd have to be delusional to think we can go all the way with our 3rd string quarterback.
The difference in the fan base (particularly in this thread) is really about expectations. A lot of us that have following the team for decades feel that anything short of SB 6 is failure. It's the old EddieD mentality that second place is another way of saying 'loser'. It's compounded when you're fielding an epic defense and a loaded offense full of star power in their prime.
The other group (and I'm assuming they've been only following the team for the past 20 years or less), it's all about moral victories. As if making the playoffs and a first round exit makes this a successful season. Or the other thing I was hearing before the season began was this is all about Trey learning the ropes so trying to win a ring was irrelevant. My response to that is WTF ? How do you take a loaded team full of probowlers and tell them that this will be a mulligan season ?
Im sorry, but the CMC trade meant that Kyle and Co. were all in for the SB this year. And we lost both our starting QBs which in essence throws out that prospect. Yet we have fans that somehow wrap their brains around it's ok as long as the team tries hard and can keep Seattle out of the playoffs, then it's VICTORY. Yay !!!!

Seems like just a common sense move. I'm sure Kyle can get a honest answer from CMC about Baker if we should or shouldn't pursue him.

I think Shanahan can provide a game plan that will play to Purdy's strength... he just needs to manage the ball and not turn it over... the defense will do their thing...it will be interesting.
