Is the season over without Jimmy G?

Seems like just a common sense move. I'm sure Kyle can get a honest answer from CMC about Baker if we should or shouldn't pursue him.

True.

Seattle will 💯

....will not. Geno's doing fine. Who needs the worst qbr in the league.

Because it's what Seattle does. Who's their backup? None of this is in regards to Baker being the starter.

omg are we still using QBR as something meaningful? I don't think Baker is very good, but as of right now he's the only QB with starting experience (with some success) that would be available.

The difference in the fan base (particularly in this thread) is really about expectations. A lot of us that have following the team for decades feel that anything short of SB 6 is failure. It's the old EddieD mentality that second place is another way of saying 'loser'. It's compounded when you're fielding an epic defense and a loaded offense full of star power in their prime.

The other group (and I'm assuming they've been only following the team for the past 20 years or less), it's all about moral victories. As if making the playoffs and a first round exit makes this a successful season. Or the other thing I was hearing before the season began was this is all about Trey learning the ropes so trying to win a ring was irrelevant. My response to that is WTF ? How do you take a loaded team full of probowlers and tell them that this will be a mulligan season ?

Im sorry, but the CMC trade meant that Kyle and Co. were all in for the SB this year. And we lost both our starting QBs which in essence throws out that prospect. Yet we have fans that somehow wrap their brains around it's ok as long as the team tries hard and can keep Seattle out of the playoffs, then it's VICTORY. Yay !!!!

Because we believe that there's basically zero shot of winning a Superbowl without having THE GUY at quarterback. And Jimmy is not the guy. Regardless of how anyone feels about Lance. He might be a bust. He might not be. But I'd rather them develop an unknown with a small chance of hope at the end of the tunnel. Rather than roll with Jimmy when I KNOW we would never win with him.

We look at Jimmy and his terrible playoff performances and just shrug and say whatever. It is what it is. We don't have a great QB here. You can only go so far with running game and defense. Whether they get exposed early in the season, or in the playoffs against the Chiefs, Bills, and Eagles is just a matter of preference.
Niners EASILY make it out the NFC with a healthy Jimmy G. Unfortunately that isn't happening. "Just making the playoffs" and maybe winning a game isn't good enough for this franchise and fanbase. Window for winning a super bowl is getting smaller and smaller

Name me a QB past or present who can perform at a high level in January with an injured throwing shoulder?
It's kind of pointless to keep rehashing. It's best to thank Jimmy and yes he did help us throughout the years no doubt but he won't be back. He sucks the way it happened but time to move forward. Will we be discussing the past for another year?

I am really thankful for Jimmy but arguing about what was right and wrong is pointless now. We have to worry about making it to the playoffs and beyond.
The running game had historically dominate performances in the 2019 playoffs to the point that there was ZERO REASON to even throw and Jimmy was on the cusp of a SBMVP before him and the entire team collapsed with 8 minutes left in the super bowl. 2021 He played with a bum shoulder during that entire run and fans who have likely never played competitive sports in their entire lives cry about that he didn't look like prime Joe Montana….

Jimmy was having a hell of a year, and it still wasn't good enough for the "fans" who made up their mind on him as soon as he signed that contract in 2018. I have no doubt Jimmy would've continued to perform well in the playoffs had he stayed healthy, unfortunately his health has always been a huge red flag.

Good point, we need to find a QB who isn't always injured who can win us a SB. BTW, I like Jimmy and I like for us to win a SB.

He wasn't worth much when last seen, predicting his downfall before it happened is how I ran afoul of everyone here about 8 years ago. I was seriously shocked he had two good years before the league caught up with him. Before anyone calls me a racist like many did back then I think Jalen Hurts is going to surpass Mahomes as the best QB in the NFL and stay there a long time unless he gets a leg injury that affects his athletic ability long term. As the league threw things at Kap to slow him down, they slowly rendered him toward the bottom of the QB heap. That was evidenced by the contract offers he was getting. The more they throw at Hurts the more he makes fools out of them. He seems to get better every week.

I bet on SF to win the division on a 6 team parlay. I came back yesterday to look at the game thread to get the low down on Jimmy's injury and what people saw on reviewed plays as the game wasn't on TV here. If you look at the playoff field all teams have had ups and downs, with QBs that have had off games. Teams have beaten KC by taking away the deep ball, Josh Allen is tied for 2nd most interceptions and a good chunk of those are in the redzone as he has been playing with a bad elbow.
Dak Prescott isn't exacty Mr Consistent in big games. 49ers went from +850 to win it all to +1200 once they announced Jimmy G was out for the year. They are now tied with the Bengals for 5th choice. Their chances hinge on how Purdy plays when they get some game tape on him. I can see the 49ers hanging on to win the division and getting the #3 seed and entertaining the #6 Seahawks in the wild card round. No one is catching Dallas for the #4. The Giants and Commanders will fight it out for the #7 spot. Both teams don't have a single easy game, while Seattle gets the Rams and Panthers at home, that is why I give them the #6 seed.

Dallas can not be the #4 seed unless they win the division with the worst divisional winner record. The #4 seed will be the "winner" of the NFC South. The best they can be is the #5 seed as a WC. The top four seeds all go to division winners.
ha, ha, why I typed #4 on Dallas is beyond me, major screw up, duh!

That's probably true. Yeah I'd say that's the case.

What was wrong with his shoulder in 19?
