Is the season over without Jimmy G?

Agreed. But what if he reaches 100%? It's obviously a long shot, but Kyle did leave the door open, saying
"I haven't been told there's a chance, so I think things would have to be pretty drastic," Well, things are pretty drastic. I wouldn't consider it for a second if he wasn't 100%, but what if he is?

Bro his foot was 90 degrees pointing out. He ain't gonna be 100% to play NFL football this year.

Kyle literally said yesterday that Lance can't come back this season. Time to hitch onto the Purdy Porsche and race to the SB

Honestly, Purdy is probably a better QB at this point than Lance right NOW, having more overall football experience and having a full season of scout-team reps... while Trey has been rehabbing all year.

Obviously, assuming we roll into 2023 with Lance and Purdy as QB1 and QB2, you go back to the plan of having Lance as the long-term starter, but as of right NOW, even if Trey can get medically cleared, Purdy gives us the best shot.

Nah disagree there. Scout team reps are pointless. s**t doesn't help a QB learn their offense. It's all predetermined play calls and reads that he has to make (based on the QB he's trying to be) and the scout QB does is give the defense looks.

if anything he's just in better shape and doesn't have a broke ankle.

I'm guessing by "drastic" Kyle meant a drastic change to the diagnosis.

While I agree with this... hypothetically now, wouldn't you feel better with Lance as our backup to Purdy rn over Josh Johnson?

I've been on the "let Trey rest until 2023" bandwagon but the injury to Jimmy makes me question that a little bit.

Just playing devils advocate because I'd still shut him down for the year.
Bill Walsh was the Master. He had Joe, Steve and Steve Bono on the roster at the same time. Can never have enough good Quarterbacks.

They need to bring in a vet QB to be at the very least the backup as well. Brock is a fun story and I think he can "manage" things, the moment we get down in a game I can see the INTs and mistakes flying though.

I guess I missed that. Where can I find it?

If Lance can play then he's the starter. If he can't play there's no point to have him backup up anything imo.

I don't think he will be ready to play NFL football this yr. It's one thing to walk around, it's a whole another ball game to cut around and deal with big fat bodies falling all around his feet. Dude has to be able to protect himself too.

This is the quote from KS, which seems less certain than people are claiming.

I still think there has to be serious discussions about whether or not Trey could be healthy by the playoffs. I realize Kyle has shot that down, but find it hard to believe it's not a consideration behind the scenes.

hes recovering from a serious injury, you dont rush him back

The larger point is that Purdy has been practicing, throwing, getting reps all year, while Trey would be coming in to high-level playoff football and has to shake off rust.

Scout team in-season practices aren't meaningful reps. Lance got every single starting rep throughout all the off season workouts, which is by far more important. Lance has also been in most of the meetings this yr.

if you want to say Brock has been throwing a football and Lance hasn't, then sure.

Lance isn't coming back anyway imo. It's gonna be Brock and probably another vet QB to finish out the season.
