Is the season over without Jimmy G?

FWIW this was graded a 76.1

Does PFF include penalties in their grade? Bosa did commit a roughing the passer call.

It was 2 off the top of my head, in addition to the one already named, and the ones that other posters are naming as well.

There's enough names on the list that you can stay that about 10%+ (nearly 20%) of all Super Bowls are won by a backup. Much more than "only 1 team has done it"

If I'm being honest with myself, yes its over. I think we'll still get in the playoffs bc our defense will win a couple games by themselves. And i've always said once the playoffs start you can throw the records out the window but trying to win with your 3rd string QB is impossible. No team has ever done it and i can only think of 1 team to win it with their backup which was the Redskins w/ Doug Williams.

Regardless i will still be watching every game and rooting for this team. Maybe we can get lucky and knock a team out of the playoffs.

Plenty of backups have won a Super Bowl.

Jeff Hostetler.
Tom Brady.

Just to name a couple.

You just named 2. Not sure I would call that plenty.

Doug Williams, Trent Dilfer, Roger Staubach, Jim Plunkett, Kurt Warner, Nick Foles. Enough?

Kurt Warner was not only not drafted, but he spent 4 years at the kiddie table in Arena and NFL Europe before he even made an NFL team. When Trent Green went down with an ACL, Dick Vermeil had never even seen Warner play with the ones, but he said "We'll rally around Kurt Warner, and we'll play good football". That resulted in a SB win and MVP honors for Warner.

That's why they play the game. You just don't know. Like 6th rounder Brady said, they just can't see what's in your heart. Were there reason these guys weren't high draft picks? Absolutely, but that doesn't make them right.

Give Brock a chance. He looks like he's got a lot of gumption to me.

Seems like just a common sense move. I'm sure Kyle can get a honest answer from CMC about Baker if we should or shouldn't pursue him.

Conversation will be like…

Shanny: can he throw better than Kyle Juzscyzk?
CMC: yes sir
Shanny: thanks for being honest!

That was such a bs call. Bosa got tripped up which is what caused him to get low on Tua.
The 49ers need to finish with the #3 seed. In that scenario, they would host the Giants/Seahawks/Redskins in the WC round. With a win, they would then play @ Minnesota and then @ Philadelphia.

I would say we can and should beat both the Giants/Minnesota with Purdy at QB and will probably make it very competitive with the Eagles as well.

The season is NOT over. They have to get the #3 seed, though.

In other words, win the division with a better record than the Bucs. Or stated another way, maintain their current position.

Yes, exactly. I'm a little worried about keeping the #3 seed but if Purdy is who I think he can be, we should wrap it up.

The Seahawks have a very easy schedule the rest of the way aside from @ KC and vs SF. I think they'll finish 3-2 meaning we have to go at least 2-3 to finish the season.

If we finish with the same record as Seattle and lose @ Seattle on TNF, it would go to division record - which will also likely be a tie. It would then go to record in common games and then conference record which I believe we will end up having an edge in.
not quite. Superbowl aspirations are another story though.

I think our superbowl winning hopes are dead unless we grab someone like Cam Newton. With Purdy I think we have an easy enough schedule to still win the division, and win a playoff game or two

The key part of the first sentence is "someone like Cam Newton" just not Cam Newton

You did hear we picked up Josh Johnson? The conversation would have to be "can he throw better than him?"

NO. Dude admitted he's gunshy and wont sling it until hes absolutely sure.

I'd rather try prying Fitzmagic away from Amazon than bring in Mayfield.

Lord please no to Mayfield, John and Kyle must not watch film if they consider bringing him in. He sucked all year with the Panthers, even when CMC was here, got benched for Darnold and released 2 weeks after benching.
