Is the season over without Jimmy G?

Lol.. KS is not stupid, he's passing on loser Baker, Purdy all the way and will gain great experience for 2023 to backup Trey or compete with Trey for QB1.

NO. Dude admitted he's gunshy and wont sling it until hes absolutely sure.

I'd rather try prying Fitzmagic away from Amazon than bring in Mayfield.

If you watch Mayfield in 2020 and envision most of that then you might reconsider. He looked pretty good that year. People do forget that he played through a shoulder injury last year. Hard to assess this season sith the Panthers.

Based on Baker's last two years, I'm not sure Purdy isn't a better option anyway as crazy as that sounds. 😂😂😂😂

Some of that may be, but for me the biggest downside to Baker us the potential locker room distraction.
Resigning JG as the backup proved to be a good move by the 49ers. Even though I expressed my opinion that JG would never win a SB without an all Madden defense due to his low ceiling & bonehead decisions at times, poor throws etc, he is/was an above average backup and the best option available to the team.

I give Jimmy props for playing the best ball he has played since his time here, I believe CMC was a great security outlet that cut down on his mistakes, but I was always gunshy every time he took the field just waiting for the same old JG to show up. The team could have got to the SB with JG but I still do not believe he could put up the points needed to beat CIN or KC,Bills, but that's all irrelevant now and only my opinion anyway.

As far as Purdy goes, I really like the guy and from what I have seen so far,who knows, he may turn out to be a steal.

I believe we still have a real good chance to make the playoffs and maybe win 1-2 rounds; however, I do not think we can get to and win the SB with a rookie QB, never has happened in the history and I doubt Kyle will be the first coach who breaks that virgin ground.

I will be watching every week hoping for the best, and prepared if they lose because Purdy may have better physical ability than JG (like Lance does) but neither can be expected to not have the same learning curve that all rookie QB's go through when starting out in the league.

If Kyle can mold BP on the fly in his rookie season and call the games that makes him the 1st rookie QB to win a SB then I will without a doubt or ounce of objection say Kyle is a genius HC/OC.

Some mentioned Brees,Rivers, Mayfield ( I already expressed a hard pass on the last one in another response). Brees and Rivers gives you the experience for sure and can throw 10-15 yards like JG,so who knows if they sign one of those guys but BP knows the playbook better than anyone they could bring in right now and I am looking forward to seeing what he can do. Hopefully BP will blow it up!

How different do you think it is from the one he ran under Stefanski for the Browns?

doubt it, he's going to clear waivers

I mean I'll take him as a backup vs Johnson. I'm team Brock, but we're in the thick of winning the NFCW. We need a legit backup with experience (and some sort of success). This situation is no bueno right now
So when does the waiver process complete?

I'm of the opinion that he's a better backup option than Josh Johnson, and he could potentially be a better option than Purdy after a few weeks of learning the offense. But it does seem like a lot of the talking heads are expecting someone else will claim him.
