And people get upset when the term "Jimmy Hater" gets thrown around

I didn't see Jimmy do anything Purdy didn't do today. Nothing changes. We will go as far as our skill position guys and defense will take us.

This was my initial thought as well.

The season is "over" when there is no longer a realistic chance to win the Super Bowl. We have seen this story with Jimmy enough times to know how it'd end and that's exactly what happened. It doesn't mean I'm not a fan of Jimmy as a person and it doesn't mean I don't see him as a top 10-15 QB when healthy, but it is what it is.

I wasn't confident in us winning the SB with Trey either, but there was at least hope he'd develop as the season went along.

It was over when Trey went down. This season was all about developing him. Jimmy wasn't gonna lead this team to the promise land. Not with his play and not with his injury history.

Maybe. Mullens couldn't handle the pressure. They are different people though. You never know.

You got Brady and Warner as exceptions. Purdy could be one. We don't know yet.
Was anyone shocked or surprised Jimmy's injury is season ending? I've become so numb to injuries I just took it in stride. I had no feeling at all
Reading through this maybe I'm confused. By the OP asking if the season is over; that includes the postseason?
it's sick to me how many people are doing victory laps on this injury news. 'we all knew how it'd end'. when jimmy took that awkward hit against the saints to his leg, i'm sure all these losers were ready to hop on twitter with injury memes and were disappointed when he got back up and won the game. qb's get hit in the nfl, it happens. the way jimmy got rolled up on there could have happened to anyone. it sucks for him and the team, and no one can predict an injury like that occuring.

if the niners goal was a super bowl win, the season is probably over barring a miracle. if there's any team in the league that can mask mediocre qb play, though, it's this one.

Not to harp on it,....but his attitude for that hit he got in the game last week vs. NO told me that his mentality has not really changed on this stuff. Complaining about guys that he knows are going to go hunting either way.

I would've loved to hear "you know what,...I just gotta go back to getting rid of that thing when a defender's heat seeking" instead.

But he's a former linebacker, right? So he is who he is.

Season isn't over. We'll still make the playoffs.

any chance at a SB berth is officially over…

I don't think anyone is taking victory laps. I think the thought is that Jimmy will eventually disappoint, either by his play or getting injured. It's been the story of his NFL career. Sad that is how he leaves this team…

See this I agree with and makes more sense to me. Maybe it's just me
