SF 49ers vs Buccaneers Pregame Thread - 2022 Season Week 14

Can't wait for Bosa to smash the ol' goat to the ground. I like the sound of B-Rock.

Glad this isn't prime time. I think we're 5x better than the bucs, but refs/ league will always conspire for Tom's success and Brock could really regress against a better and more prepared D. I think we lose a really close one, and then beat Seattle.

it usually takes 2-3 games for defenses to get tape on a Qb and kind of game plan thats why sometimes backup Qs can have big games early on

(remember Troy smith lol)

Our defense is good enough to win this game for us. The offense just needs to not turn the ball over.

Ultimately, we'll need Purdy to score 17+ pts (unless the defense scores). He could have a major drop off from last week and still win.

Ultimately, we should lean on our run game and defense and not ask a 7th round rookie QB to have to do too much against the 5th ranked pass defense.

We're all agreeing here...

other than A-R-S's opinion that we'll lose. I think we can win a 17-9 type game.

The defense benefitted from some inaccuracies from Tua and dropped passes against Miami. They need to tighten up even more or Brady gonna pick them apart.

The only picking Brady will do is of himself off the ground.
49ers need to watch this video to know how to properly sack Brady.

Bosa needs to sack him about 8 times so Brady can have another record. Most times sacked by one player in a single game.

Tua had high accuracy stats before he played the Niners. Saying defense benefited from Tua's inaccuracies is somewhat incorrect. More like the defense made Tua inaccurate

It may have been a little of both. He seemed off even at the start of the game before he had a chance to feel the pressure. Once they started getting to him it just got worse. Plus you can't forget that they didn't have waddle for most of the game because he had a leg injury. He has almost as many yards as Hill.

its not just about pressure its about getting hands up and disrupting throwing lanes

Yep, JonnyDel covered it pretty well.
After Fred almost picked that DIG route on the second series he started trying to throw high to avoid our LB's underneath.
Tyreek Hill measured 5'8 at his Pro Day and Waddle is about the same so there's very little margin for error there.

You saw it again when the backup came in on the last series. They ran the same routes, he didn't layer the ball over the underneath linebacker and Fred picked it.
That would've happened to Tua all day if he wasn't throwing high.

Nah. Our defense sucks and we just caught Tua on a bad day.
After getting a walk-on invite at ALA, he took a scholarship offer at Iowa state and started 47 games….a full 4 yr starter, with 19 TDs runs, and 70+ Passing % (i think), plus a ton of TD passes. This kid is no fluke. And, it looks like he has the ability to read a D…and also knows when to call T.O.

After his play of 1 game…was he really the 262nd best player in the draft? If so there are some bozo GMs and HCs out there that missed on a very good Qb with lots of heart. Most 3rd string QBs coming in to a game like MIA , just don't play this well. And it was a very highly rated MIA team at that.

Granted he has a world beater D behind him and an O with #71 plus his improving brethren on the OL, and then Deebo, au jus, Jauan, Aiyuk, Elijah, #85, and the incredible recent trade McCaf, who is our best RB and WR, both. He plays as well against TB as he did vs MIA, we should be fine.

I sure hope our D game plan is to pound Brady with every play and if not hits, then hurries, or sacks….he , like all other QBs do not like getting hit and we got the guys who can do just that. If we can manage that, then we beat the Bucs and TB.

That's why I've been asking if this was an Adam Peters pick or Kyle pick. Hoping is an Adam Peters pick

We have the linebackers to get back and cover the middle lanes that Tua loves, defense was a major part why they slowed down that offense.
