I just hope if he does light it up the team doesn't offer him a huge payday just yet.

Not immediately, we have him for a couple of years

I very seriously doubt he will. But I think he's more ready to play than Trey is. More game experience and he reads the field better. He also throws more accurately.

What does this mean? Did Purdy put up JG playoff numbers? Did the defense and STs score more than the offense? Did Purdy rack up an average of 4 TDs per game? I mean...it depends.
But if the 49ers are to make a deep playoff run, it probably happens because of Kyle and Ryans (and by association, the defense).

Doesn't matter what it says if people don't want to hear it.

It depends on the nature of how we win those games.
If we have wins where we score 12 points on field goals, but the defense holds them to 7... That's really on the defense.
If we go into the playoffs, and he throws 25 times a game as a facilitator, where his the YAC squad just racks up yardage... That's on the surrounding cast and Shanahan. And obviously the defense too.
If he's slinging it, throwing the ball into tight windows, making the tough throws, playing with poise, and what-not... that's a very clear thing to see as well.

To be honest, it is at least 3 of them. I would be more interested in discussing what actions the team should take during the off season re quarterbacks. And should we try to bring in a vet like Baker? Should Lynch try to bring back Garoppolo next year? With the injury he might struggle to get a good offer from a good team.

None of those. It's the defense

It would solidify that we used too much draft capital for Lance

Baker as a backup...sure.
JG will likely be back next year on a reduced / backup level contract. I doubt he sees stellar offers next year given his recovery timeline (if he has a Lisfranc injury as alluded to by Papa).
Hopefully Purdy plays well enough down the stretch (may be a pipe dream) to secure the QB2 role next year.

I see Lance as qb1 next year.

I've always been down with bringing Jimmy back as backup, if he'd be willing. Hard pass on Baker, though the comic relief I'd get watching him and Bosa would be tempting.
