If Purdy takes the team on a deep playoff run, who does it say the most about?

To be honest, it is at least 3 of them. I would be more interested in discussing what actions the team should take during the off season re quarterbacks. And should we try to bring in a vet like Baker? Should Lynch try to bring back Garoppolo next year? With the injury he might struggle to get a good offer from a good team.

Baker as a backup...sure.

JG will likely be back next year on a reduced / backup level contract. I doubt he sees stellar offers next year given his recovery timeline (if he has a Lisfranc injury as alluded to by Papa).

Hopefully Purdy plays well enough down the stretch (may be a pipe dream) to secure the QB2 role next year.

I see Lance as qb1 next year.

If Purdy continues to play like yesterday, and takes the team deep into the playoffs eg NFCC game, he might leap Trey and become QB1. I think Purdy is the type of quarterback Kyle wants; a pocket passer that can escape the pressure just to buy time to find a receiver.

it's a very small sample, but he looked more NFL ready yesterday than Trey has in his limited snaps as starter. I'm hoping Purdy works out bc I don't buy the Trey hype at all…

So you think Lance was not Shanny's choice leading up to the draft?
There is a reason KS kept Purdy as the back up to Trey before Jimmy resign as a backup and why Purdy was never sent to the PS and stayed on the active 53.

All credit goes to KS and LYNCH for drafting Purdy.

It's not exactly shocking. Trey had less than 20 starts of after highschool football experience and in a lower division of college play. He's theoretically got more tools, but experience playing the game is worth more right now and why he looked better than Trey IMO.

No way JG comes back. He's damaged goods at this point. Was limited with his arm, now he's a guaranteed injury waiting to happen every year. For him to come back as a backup, the team would have to make sure there is a bonified backup for him and that's not worth the headache.

I don't disagree. But, if Purdy s**ts the bed, and JG doesn't see offers from elsewhere, it may be a good match for both. JG (in a backup role - I cannot stress this enough), and acting as a mentor for Trey. I can see it happening because I think the team / front office like the guy--the person, not his hospital ward mentality.

I saw a tweet that stated Lance has thrown over 250 yds once in his football career. And it was in High School. I thought to myself that couldn't be right.

Purdy has a ton of 300+ yard games, let alone 250+. So he has plenty of experience slanging the rock. It showed yesterday.

Also, doesn't hurt that he made the most of his practice reps going against the #1 defense, like Warner mentioned.

Pretty sure Jimmy wants to a be starter and get pay starter money, 9 other teams or so who needs a new QB1 will offer him that job and pay, the Jimmy 9er Era is over with his injury yesterday and oh BTW he's a FA as soon as the season ends.

I want to see him back just so that a certain member here has to eat a shoe
That the team wasn't hexed by gypsies.

Don't think it's up to anyone on this forum if he comes back AGAIN 🤣

DW, I think the Jimmy Curse has been lifted yesterday 🤣
He gave us 7-3 as a backup, good investment for sure, money well spend 😉👍
Great problems to have. For now, I just want him to beat the Bucs.

If he has, as Papa alluded to, a Lisfranc injury, and it's severe, his recovery timeline is not far off from where he was this past offseason, meaning he would miss install / early camp. He was not offered anything this past season, so it does not make sense to assume he will next year, especially given a guy who everyone thought was injury prone BEFORE yesterday is now injured AGAIN with a season ending injury.

Like I said, I can see it happening. FO likes the guy. JG has a chance to be successful if he gets on the field. An unlikely scenario if he goes elsewhere. And he can try again to parlay a one year deal into a big pay day--because big pay day is not what he will get next year from any of those other nine teams.

Would you invest substantially in someone who is injured 50% of the time? Of course not. And you're just some random poster, not an NFL GM.

All the above.

9ers have Trey and Purdy now with experience going forward, they won't need Jimmy again and as a FA Jimmy will definitely look for and get a job as QB1 some where else, make sense? The Jimmy G Era is over.
