To be honest, it is at least 3 of them. I would be more interested in discussing what actions the team should take during the off season re quarterbacks. And should we try to bring in a vet like Baker? Should Lynch try to bring back Garoppolo next year? With the injury he might struggle to get a good offer from a good team.
Baker as a backup...sure.
JG will likely be back next year on a reduced / backup level contract. I doubt he sees stellar offers next year given his recovery timeline (if he has a Lisfranc injury as alluded to by Papa).
Hopefully Purdy plays well enough down the stretch (may be a pipe dream) to secure the QB2 role next year.
I see Lance as qb1 next year.
If Purdy continues to play like yesterday, and takes the team deep into the playoffs eg NFCC game, he might leap Trey and become QB1. I think Purdy is the type of quarterback Kyle wants; a pocket passer that can escape the pressure just to buy time to find a receiver.
it's a very small sample, but he looked more NFL ready yesterday than Trey has in his limited snaps as starter. I'm hoping Purdy works out bc I don't buy the Trey hype at all…
So you think Lance was not Shanny's choice leading up to the draft?
I didn't see Shanny calling run plays up the middle for Purdy. He called plays that we expected were going to be called for Trey. I think Shanny likes having a JimmyG mold quarterback that will sit back in the pocket and sling it rather than make plays on the run. In the back of my mind, I do think Trey was a pressure pick for Shanny and not one he really wanted…

Doesn't even matter next year, if Purdy does great for the rest of the season, Trey and Purdy can compete for QB1 next season if that's what KS choose to do, Jimmy is gone though for sure.
The game is more mental in my opinion and what if no one knew because as a rookie no one can see/figure it out yet, Purdy has that mental edge and higher IQ than Trey Lance. Now that Purdy is getting his chances, everybody's starting to see. This is hypothetical but if it's true and Purdy keeps on winning leads us deep into the playoffs, he deserves to be in the starting QB conversation.

And you base this on what?
I said 'what if', a hypothetical statement. No basis, just came up with it.

I don't disagree. But, if Purdy s**ts the bed, and JG doesn't see offers from elsewhere, it may be a good match for both. JG (in a backup role - I cannot stress this enough), and acting as a mentor for Trey. I can see it happening because I think the team / front office like the guy--the person, not his hospital ward mentality.
OMG fans. LET IT GO! We had all hoped for a perfect ending here. Jimmy was doing well but he is injured again. No ones fault but that is probably the last final strike. He has one season I believe not injured. One. He is not coming back. The 9ers are back to cut the rope. How hard is that to understand and look at the past injuries with some common sense. How many years do you ride that potential and most likely scenario?

Some people can't accept changes in life.
Changes are good in life. Life is always changing.
Go with the flow. The Jimmy 9er Era ended yesterday, moving on.

Purdy has a ton of 300+ yard games, let alone 250+. So he has plenty of experience slanging the rock. It showed yesterday.
Also, doesn't hurt that he made the most of his practice reps going against the #1 defense, like Warner mentioned.

I really won't be surprised if they bring Jimmy back next year.

At this point I wouldn't care if Shaun Hill was starting for us in the playoffs. I just want to win a damn super bowl already.

I don't know that it's change people can't accept. I'm seeing people dreaming about Jimmy coming back, some dreaming about Purdy taking the starting gig. It ultimately boils down to their steadfast hope that Trey doesn't remain the starter. For whatever reason….

Pretty sure Jimmy wants to a be starter and get pay starter money, 9 other teams or so who needs a new QB1 will offer him that job and pay, the Jimmy 9er Era is over with his injury yesterday and oh BTW he's a FA as soon as the season ends.
If he has, as Papa alluded to, a Lisfranc injury, and it's severe, his recovery timeline is not far off from where he was this past offseason, meaning he would miss install / early camp. He was not offered anything this past season, so it does not make sense to assume he will next year, especially given a guy who everyone thought was injury prone BEFORE yesterday is now injured AGAIN with a season ending injury.
Like I said, I can see it happening. FO likes the guy. JG has a chance to be successful if he gets on the field. An unlikely scenario if he goes elsewhere. And he can try again to parlay a one year deal into a big pay day--because big pay day is not what he will get next year from any of those other nine teams.
Would you invest substantially in someone who is injured 50% of the time? Of course not. And you're just some random poster, not an NFL GM.
9ers have Trey and Purdy now with experience going forward, they won't need Jimmy again and as a FA Jimmy will definitely look for and get a job as QB1 some where else, make sense? The Jimmy G Era is over.

Weird and unexpected things happen everyday even in the NFL.
