If Purdy takes the team on a deep playoff run, who does it say the most about?

Lol no one does it better boneheaded than Jimmy Tryhard...
It would say the most about the whole league where stats, % decision making and measurables are everything.

He would be to fans the RUDY we all wanted to succeed.
I think if this happens and we lose and it's not due to offensive ineptitude you basically have to force lance to take the job from him.

I just don't see how you go from potential and winning to maybe a higher ceiling and just gift lance back the job.

If it is obvious we're losing games because of Jimmy type situation where the offense looks pathetic then I think you can go back to lance right away but if we're losing in shootouts I don't see how even with this much invested you can just give the job back to lance.
It says that we finally found our guy for the next 15 years and I don't care if it was someone we traded three 1sts for or used the last pick of the draft on. Having your guy is better than not having your guy in this league.

Jim Everett comes to mind for some reason.

If the Niners manage to go deep into the playoffs Purdy is going to be everybody's favorite player thanks to being Mr. Irrelevant. They'll make a movie about it. It would be amazing to see. (Ahem . . . it WILL be amazing to see.)

I don't disagree. But, if Purdy s**ts the bed, and JG doesn't see offers from elsewhere, it may be a good match for both. JG (in a backup role - I cannot stress this enough), and acting as a mentor for Trey. I can see it happening because I think the team / front office like the guy--the person, not his hospital ward mentality.

OMG fans. LET IT GO! We had all hoped for a perfect ending here. Jimmy was doing well but he is injured again. No ones fault but that is probably the last final strike. He has one season I believe not injured. One. He is not coming back. The 9ers are back to cut the rope. How hard is that to understand and look at the past injuries with some common sense. How many years do you ride that potential and most likely scenario?

LOL. No team targets (lower contract) and retains more oft-injured players than the 49ers. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if the QB room is exactly the same next year. Why is THAT hard to believe?
All of the above plus some. I think Griese gets some of the credit also. Jimmy was playing the best he ever has before injury. If Purdy continues to play well and takes us deep into the playoffs, it should only further the perception that Griese was a great hire.

Results this year lead to that conclusion.

Because 30 million isn't a lower contract. Someone is offering him a guaranteed starting job.
I can't think of a comparable qb to Purdy. Not sure who his play reminds me of.
I can't believe Shanahan is third in this poll right now.

No kidding. It says a lot about his detractors when they're cool giving him all of the blame but none of the credit.
Buyer beware, how many quarterbacks have been the savior after one or two games? Nate Davie, Baby Brees, Wicket Pickett, Tim Rattay, and on and on and on. What history has taught us is that the bloom falls from the rose in a quick fashion. I don't say this in a negative or derogatory stance, only what history shows us. Sure I hope Purdy is the One, but I watch and wait.
