I am still trying to process what I witnessed yesterday. What all of us witnessed. At least one reporter has issued a story comparing this game to another game that Nick Mullens started. That was indeed a good game. But Mullens didn't look like this in that game. He did not look like Purdy. I saw Purdy make exactly one bad throw yesterday. One. It was a pass over the middle that he should not have thrown and it was picked off. Fortunately, for Purdy and the 49ers, a penalty wiped that play out.

It's still a tad early, imo, to declare this kid as "something special." It's only been two games. But it appears that Purdy has turned this team from possible Super Bowl contender to an absolute beast that cannot be stopped. I hope this ride continues. I really do. Because, if it does, we will all get to witness something very, very special. We will all see something that we, as 49er fans, will remember and talk about for the rest of our lives.

This wasn't just an average win. We've all been fortunate to witness those. No, it's not. Last week's game and yesterday's game are the type of contests that we will want to see again. The replay of this game on the NFL Network will be listed in the Calendar section of our smart phones. We will all want to see this again. We will all ask, did that realy happen?

We're not there yet. Fate is a fickle thing. But this could be a special season. For all of us.

I love this! Well written and yes, this was an incredible win. I know I will always remember it and wanna rewatch highlights for the millionth time.

Purdy is going to throw an INT at some point and hopefully it won't be a costly one. I can live with that as long as he keeps making big time throws that rtesult in TDs. I sat in the stands through all the Montana and Young years and believe me the fans moaned many times when one of them threw an INT. They had their fair share but they also made up for them with the big plays. That's how they won Super Bowls.

Football is a little like the stock market. You can play it safe and conservative and never really lose too much but you never gain a lot either. If you're willing to gamble you'll have days with big losses but the goal is to ultimately be a big winner, not just a survivor.

I hear you. I agree with you. It may just be me, but when I watch Purdy I see Montana against the New Orlean Saints. Game 14 of the 1980 season. Montana who? Who was this Joe kid? Why is this crazy kid slinging passes all over the field? What in the world am I watching here?

I will tell you what I watched on that day in 1980. I watched the birth of a legend. An absolute legend. I have never forgotten that game. It's been 42-years and I still will never forget it.

I get the same type of vibe from Purdy. He is slinging the ball all over the field. Completing passes that nobody in their right mind has any hope of completing.

Could I be wrong? Oh, YEAH! Have I been wrong? MOST OF THE TIME, YES! But, I'm telling you, I'm getting that vibe.

I completely agree with you. I see a young Montana in Purdy as well.

I think I felt it most as the first half came to a close. Purdy is moving the 49er offense. The TV pundits are claiming all he needs to do is not screw up, and the 49ers are in position for a field goal to end the half. And, then, BOOM! Purdy hits a WIDE OPEN Aiyuk for a TD. BOOM! 28-0 49ers. WHAT DID I JUST SEE???

I was shocked. I think my mouth was wide open. I couldn't believe it. There have been some good to great 49er QB's since Montana. And I don't want to get too excited because it's only been two games. But I have a feeling this kid could be something really, really special.

I told my son if that happened to Jimmy he would have never taken that shot - would have checked down or been sacked.
5 takeaways:

1. Kyle called a brilliant game, maybe his best ever…and yes, the D is unspeakably awesome. They are approaching being in the conversation for one of the best ever.

2. Purdy is absolutely fearless. That hit on 1st play of game would have sent half the QBs in the league to the sidelines. Brock just shook it off. Instead of scaring him, it seemed that helmet hit lit him up. He's just over 6 feet tall, but plays like a guy 6'8"

3. Brock is my kind of QB runner. He doesn't run between the tackles, he doesn't run period. But he has a unique ability to run around enough to stay out of trouble and let one his his WRs come open.

3a. When inside the 5 yd line and everybody was covered or doubled, Brock tucked it and ran it in. Still my kind of QB runner.

4. When DL blitzed and Purdy got in trouble, he seems to have that Montana 6th sense, and knows just when he needs to move before somebody clocks him. This attribute is one of the main reasons he will succeed in this league.

5. If ever anyone wanted to make a case for college players, esp QBs, staying in school and playing all 4 yrs, well, Brock is the poster boy for it. His game maturity, awareness, sense of what the D is doing…all are way, way above the average Joe QB who has 1, maybe 2 , or occasionally 3 yrs of college ball at a big time university.

F*** the haters. The 49er that never was. Not his fault the 49ers' brain trust in 2000 didn't have a clue as far as QB's go.
Not once have I ever had hatred for Brady, enjoy his game, his will to win and take less money to field a better roster and I never had an issue and like how he carries himself on and off the field. Just sucks they never drafted him and said no to him in 20' when he said I just wanna play for y'all and there will be no FA tour and they just still said no.

I only disliked him in NE. Stopped caring after he went to Tampa. I think it was more of a BB+TB combo thing, I dunno.

I don't like Tom because he took the GOAT title away from Joe Montana. That's the only reason - purely football related. My initial thought of Tom was, "hell yeah this dude beat the Greatest Show on Turf in the SB. I like him."

Always liked him because he was a 49er fan.

I don't wanna get too excited either but I will just enjoy the feelings right now and soak it all in:)

Let's just say he has some of those intangibles that the combine can't measure. All the stuff the measure and time at the combine is only half of what makes a great QB.

That was mostly due to KS calling a stop and go route instead of turtling up

Purdy pump fake helped to sell it

Both of Aiyuk's catches came on the same drive (the first catch was on a Swirl route, the other was the touchdown). Check out the similarities and we know why the CB totally bit on the 'Stutter Go'.

The Shanahan haters won't put two and two together here.

My "sensational brilliance" tells me the QB making better decisions has something to do with it.

Aiyuk said that TD play was not in the gameplan and they did not practice it at all last week. Kyle said he thought of it and went over it with Brock Purdy Saturday night and made sure he was comfortable with running it.

I noticed this right away. Bucs' #35 was the victim on both completions.

Has anyone seen if Montana commented on the game? Tried to see if he did but haven't been able to find anything.

Its not the QB, its just that Kyle doesn't like to go deep and outside.
